Help removing S550 AWD sway bar
Can't clear the sway bar from the suspension, solution?
Need help removing the sway bar (the bushing became unattached from the bar, hence the knocking in the suspension). Ok. easy enough to get the sway bar links off and the sway bar unbolted yet it gets hung up on the suspension and I can't get it out. Do you need to drop the subframe?? I also tried to take the lower strut bolt out of the control arm yet even wailing on the bolt with a punch, I can't get it out. Presume they are tapered. Any other suggestions??

Mine was the front but a similar (and increasingly common) issue with the bushing becoming dislodged from the sway bar. Hard to believe Mercedes's bulletin instructs you to use epoxy (even a Mercedes part # for an off the counter epoxy). I preferred to get a new sway bar and I'm told they redesigned/improved how the bushing is attached. Swapping it out, as well as installing sway bar links at the same time resolved the issue.
