w221 reversing camera dead
The reversing camera on my w221 is no longer working. It started with dark display with no images when reversing gear is engaged. I took it to the stoke mercedez and they said need to replace camera. Quoted £600 to fix it.
After they have looked at it there is no longer any thing on the screen when reversing gear is engaged
I have been reading through forum to see if any one had the same issue and saw few posts. Couple of them mentioned it could be just a faulty cable and couple mentioned could be a fuse.
Does the reversing camera have a fuse?
Many thanks if you could throw some light :-)
Could this be the relay? (I checked the fuse behind the armrest and it seemed good) Before I shell out for a new modulator and rip the boot apart again, if it could be the relay, that would seem to be a cheaper and easier fix. (1st rule of troubleshooting - do the easiest thing first!)
Thanks

a later CGW update brings more diagnostics that throw a fault code when it still works... (might even need to update the camera module to get the picture to display when going back rather than when driving forwards !!!)
reading the original post, the aluminium cameras fill with water... strip the camera down carefully remove the white dust and crud, dry out for 48 hours and then put ACF 50 in there without getting on the lens or sensor. Should be good for another 10 years,
the black plastic camera on later models work, but has the pin configuration needs swapping to match the car, they get better detail and better night support but are a little grainy
