Thumbs up Hawk Brake Pads

I have a 2007 S 600 with 62K miles and I love it!! It drives better than anything I have owned previously including Cadillacs and Lincolns. Having put 9000 miles on it in the last year, I needed to replace front brake pads. My Mercedes pads were soft and worn. They also put out tons of dust. I replaced with Hawk Ceramics yellow pads and the pedal is firm and solid. Stopping distance is improved which is nice on a really large vehicle like an S 600.

I am much happier now than with the OEM pads.

The pads are yellow so the dust is less apparent than the black OEM Mercedes pads. Much better.

Great to hear, thanks. I am just waiting for mine to settle down enough that I can take the time to do the front brakes, the current pads generate a ton of black dust. They aren't anywhere near in need of replacement, but I'm tempted to pull them early just to get the dust under control.

I went with the Akebono pads and NO DUST. They're awesome. If you need a set, let me know.

I use them on every car. The best pads I've ever used.

I've used Hawk 5.0 pads for about a year on my tuned 2013 S550. The pads have a lot of dust, really. The dust is metallic and you can metal shavings on your wheels. This needs to be washed and cleaned regularly. They do stop the car at speed but at the cost of rotors. Within a year I've gone through 2 sets of pads and rotors and that's around 6-8 thousand miles per set.

The black Hawk 5.0s are metallic and shed black dust. The Hawk Yellow are ceramic and she whitish dust that you don't see as easily. You go thru pads pretty fast so next time try Hawk Yellow. Good luck!.
