Angry Michelin pilot sport tires

i have a 2011 mercedes benz s550 4matic, i have been running michelin tires foe over 30 years, i worked in poland in 2016, when i returned home in 2017, i put new tires on all of my cars, on my s550 i decided to go with the pilot sport as3 tires, on my 2006 cadi dts i went with the michelin primacy mx4x tires, on my 2005 nissan altima i went with the primacy tires also, i drive my s550 the least of these three cars, mostly on the weekend and travel, since i installed these tires i have put 15,000 miles on them, and they are worn out, i have rotated and balanced my tires every 4500 miles, and maintain the alignment also. i picked up a nail in my left rear tire and took it in to be repaired that's when the tire tech told me my tires were severely worn, this is a 45,000 mile tire and at 15,000 they are wore out, i will admit that i do not race my car, i purchased it for the comfort that the car offers, discount tire where i purchased the tires and had all maintenance done on tires told me that the y would give me the balance of the tire warranty on the purchase of a new set of tires, they offered the pilot as4 as a replacement i turned them down, asked if they had the primacy in my tire size, they said no, by the way the tires on my cadi and the nissan have more miles and are showing no wear, all tires purchased at the same time, the tires on the cadi and nissan look new, and have 8/32 of thread on them the pilot tires have 2/32 of thread left, i have gotten great service from michelin tires, but not the as3 tires will not purchas another set as3's

Completely different than my experience with S550 and Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires. 45k on the first set and a little over 10k on this set. I have the factory staggered 19" AMG wheels. We have wide temperature extremes here, yearly from 30F - 110F, but not much rain.

If I were a guessing man, I would guess someone else may be 'enjoying' your car a bit, really odd that the rears did not last that long with moderate driving...

I love my AS3's. Just put a new set all around. 255/35/20 and 275/35/20. They are the best riding and quietest tires in my experience.

I had a similar experience with my 2007 S600. I bought Michelin AS3 19 inch for the fronts at $235 a tire. Wearing super well. Also bought Michelin Pilot Sport but marked OEMs on the sidewall when Tirerack.com did the clearance sale at $120 each. Great price, i thought.....Put them on the rear. Now 10K miles later and almost worn out on the rear!!! WTF?

Yup, Mine have all been AS3+ as well. I picked up the rear for a 20.00 discount since Tire Rack is near me but I ordered the front and got them next day.

I feel like they're wearing quick. I have about 8000 miles on my latest set and they slip constantly. I've been through more tires on my S550 then any 3 cars I've owned.

If your tires are constantly "slipping", it's not the tires. The S550 is certainly capable of being driven well in excess of the tire's limits, and when you do that they will wear very quickly. If you drive it like you're on the Grand Prix circuit, the tires will last about as long as they do on Grand Prix cars.

When I was a kid I remember going through a set of rear tires in about 6K miles. It wasn't the tires' fault.

My previous S420 (W140) would eat a set of tires every 20k miles. But this S550 with the staggered setup is a 45k mile beast with the Michelin A/S 3+ on it. Don't ask about the R129 I used to have, I might as well have been spreading butter on the wheels.
