S550 Drive Shaft Removal/Service

I suspect my centre support bearing and/or front flex disc maybe going South. Iv'e already purchased the parts and plan to do this DIY. However after hours and hours and hours of searching I can't find a procedure anywhere. My question is does the exhaust system need to be completely removed or can' it just be dropped? Any help would be greatly appreciated. 2008 S550

With a subscription to WIS you can find the procedures.

Tx.... I have used WIS plenty of times in my years of Mercedes ownership. Saving tens of thousands of dollars front the dealer and shops. .I was just hoping maybe just maybe somebody out there has done this job and has some shortcuts or tips.

Just finished this job on an 09. I found no way to do it without dropping the exhaust. Not saying you can’t, but the amount of time I wasted, it would have been easiest to just pull the exhaust from the get go. Aside from being cumbersome and awkward, it’s really easy to remove.

Just curious, why are you removing the driveshaft? What are your symptoms that led you to believe it’s driveshaft related?

You need all wheels off of the ground, which may be stating the obvious.
