Looking to Purchase 2007 S550
Hi, Long time looker and currently own a 2015 GL550 and it's been a great suv. Now looking at a 2007 S550 and the vin is WDDNG71XX7A085316. I wonder if I can get some help on what to look out for. I have read timing issues with this vehicle and wonder if anyone and give me some insight on this as well as other things to look out for.
Thanks,
Andrew

Easy Phil, I would tend to agree with you. But this particular car only has 24K miles. Owned by an older couple so it looks like it's been serviced over the years.

2007 SL550 & 2012 S550 4matic
This is a first year model. There were issues with electronic parts and there are many. Service records are important, but age can take a toll on any MB. You should have all the services brought up to date using calendar not mileage metric. Check threads by BOTUS if you want to find out more about gremlins. A later model year might be a better choice in long run.

Use this vin decoder to see what the options are and what the engine serial number is.
https://www.lastvin.com/
That engine number is in range of the timing chain problem.

From what I can make it. It was a we’ll careful s550. Unfortunately it was wrecked and needed the passenger front suspension fender and bumper replace. The car drives good but I am on the fence about it. The repairs was okay and for me would need to be sent back to the shop for realignment to sort out.

I would have a competent shop check alignment specs before I would buy this car.
