Mechanical defect or component Y58/1 (Purge control valve is permanently open P2421

So recently I been having issues with my fuel gauge on my cluster not showing the correct amount of fuel in the tank and a fellow forum member suggested using Techron fuel treatment in the gas tank. So yesterday I picked up a bottle of Techron and added to my gas tank that was filled. I drove hone which is less than a mile from the store. This morning I turned on my car and noticed that the check engine light was lit up. What I did notice is that the needle for the fuel gauge had moved closer to “F” which is definitely a good sign but I decided to scan the car to find out what the check engine light was. This is when I discovered that the code was 1077 and it said “Mechanical defect or component Y58/1 (Purge control valve is permanently open P2421.” Did anyone else experience this? I noticed that from what I gather on YouTube the part is located in the engine bay near the window reservoir. I ended up ordering it online from eBay but it’s Mercedes Genuine part. Also randomly the inside of the car smells alittle bit of gas. I have checked under rear seat and there is no leaks as last year I replaced the fuel pump and filter. Less than 2 weeks ago I replaced the left fuel level sensor inside the gas tank. I also aware from reading this forum that there is charcoal canister that might need to be replaced which is located near the right rear wheel. If anyone has any experience with this purge valve error please let me know .by the way the car is running great and have no issues otherwise. At 172k miles I am happy with the quality of the ride and car.
