Air system intermittent gasp.

Air system intermittent gasp.
Is it normal for the air system to occasionally gasp for air? Sound is coming from the front near the tank. Happens after shutdown or when a demand is placed on the system. Trunk opening etc. Thanks.

I think it's purging. I don't know for certain, but I think it's the car leveling itself out, balancing system pressures, and so forth after parking it. Mine does the same thing. Never even crossed my mind that it would be a malfunction. I think it's cool.

the trunk closing I doubt has anything to do with the front of the car, does it not use a pump in the boot behind the rear seats?
at the front right near the headlamp is the airmatic suspension system that should be 100% air tight

Quite often I get a big noise for a split second on switch off I think its the AC dumping moisture and it lands on the exhaust near the CAT (which is very hot) - I don't think it the Air suspension

^ yup. Just the car doing it's thing. There are about 700 sensors in these things constantly working to monitor and adjust things. The car self-levels. The system is just venting and equalizing. I think it's awesome. My car is alive even after I kill it.
