SOLVED ! It was actually pretty easy after all - just read what your phone writes. Exactly as SUPERSWISS - posted.

During Bluetooth pairing there's a code generated by one of the devices and needs to be entered on the other device. Newer systems just generate the code and ask you to verify it that they are the same on both devices. Below is an example of what you might see during the pairing request. The phone or COMAND generates and displays the code, and that code has to be entered on the other device to authorize the pairing. It's a random code. Every time you pair with another device a new code gets generated. For certain devices if there is no code then 0000 is the default code. For example if you pair with a keyboard or a mouse that don't have any means to generate and display a code.

Oh, I just checked the owner's manual. It's old school early Bluetooth version for your generation. You pick the code yourself. Just enter any code in COMAND and then your phone should ask for the code and you enter the same code as described. It just makes sure you are pairing with the intended device by entering the same code on both sides. Take note that some phones may only work with 4 digit codes and other phones support codes with more digits.

The one in question is more difficult as any code will work as explained above.

Just to clarify ...
This is pairing for telephony only.
Pairing for music from your phone did not exist in 2012 ... bluetooth to airbuds came with IPhone 6 in 2016.

Hello! I recently became the owner of the w221.
I plan to buy a head unit on Android OS, but before that, I want to study in detail all the aspects, difficulties, and possible consequences of such an undertaking.
I have a 2013 model.
Maybe someone already installed it, please share your experience, I will be very grateful.
Many THX)

I have a 2013 S550 and recently had a LIMCET unit installed for me. It sits behind the CD unit and comes with all the relevant cables and plugs and effectively sits between the MB system and the speakers. It pairs with both CarPlay and Android. I now have full CarPlay and with a single push of one of the console buttons can switch between COMMAND and CarPlay. My car play is controlled by my COMMAND button and everything is seamless. I paid 1,000 dirhams, about $370 Australian for supply and installation. I am very happy with the system. Good Luck.
