No can bus communication

Well I am still try to track down why my brand new oem parking brake won’t communicate with the car. The car actually doesn’t even see it on the Mercedes’ c4 star. Normally if a module is attached to the car the Mercedes’ star will display the part #. It’s definitely a canbus issue. Needless to say I am thinking it’s the wiring harness coming from the car that connects to the parking brake module itself. Anyone have an idea what’s the number for the harness and also where does that harness connect to on the actual car?

Botus,

my Plug looks similar to this one. Not really sure why Mercedes would mount this under my car.

Have you checked make sure you have power and ground??? There should be constant power (circuit 30) on pin 11, key on power (circuit 87) on pin 6 and ground on pin 13. If you do, there are 2 CAN lines that go from the electronic parking brake module to connector X18 and from there they go to the central gateway.

Hello,

so there has always been ground and power. When I bought the car and had the parking motor replaced thinking it was that it was confirmed that there was ground and power. I have spoken to ninjabenz and he has confirmed that there are 2 canbus wires going to the parking brake module in the plug coming from the car. I recently Bought terminals files to clean them in the plug from car and also decided on buy a used harness with the plug attached just in case the one on my car is too far gone. I have attached the picture of the used plug. I am going to clean it if necessary.

Yes, when they plugged it into the old one it didn’t recognize it either as being connected.
