Auxiliary Battery Perspective

Posts on changing the under dash auxiliary battery on facelift versions can be found with search. This post provides additional perspective, including a photo to demonstrate the actual size of this battery.

The operative WIS instructions for aux battery change is AR54.10-P-0007SA, Remove/install additional battery.

This includes reference to WIS instruction AR68.10-P-1500SX, Remove/install cover below instrument panel (left)

The battery change document is applicable to ...

Model 216.3 as of 2.6.08
Model 216.3 with CODE (809) Model year 2009
Model 221.0 as of 2.6.08
Model 221.0 with CODE (809) Model year 2009

Wishful thinking would suggest this might end all the incorrect posts as to which models have which battery configuration. There is no battery in trunk for models with the subject configuration.

I had not paid any attention that detail but it's strange that a Pepsi cola tin can looks like dwarfed the battery

It does indeed ... the battery is REALLY small. 1.2 amp

I've forgotten what it does on the 221 ?

- its a badly chosen name of muddled functionality

on the 211 it provides emergency back up for the brake servo and nothing else
on cars like the 212 it just wastes your life controlling the stop start logic you want to remain broken (its just an engine destroying joke - with one purpose - to sell more cars)

It helps you get the transmission out of park if the main battery is dead.
