M276 engine startup noise - Check valves already installed
I'm aware of bulletin LI05.10-P-056435 that addresses this issue by installing check valves and chain tensioners. However, the tech at the dealership says my engine has the check valves installed already and he thinks that the driver's side intake camshaft adjuster went bad and he thinks I should change both adjusters and tensioners on the driver's side to solve the issue. I asked him if he thinks the check valve is also bad, and he said it's unlikely.
He tried to push me to change all four adjusters on both sides but at $1k a piece I don't see why I should pay for something that is not broken. What do you guys think?

Changing one side at a time seems reasonable, if you agree with the shop’s diagnosis.
