Fiber optic loop question
Guys I used a fiber optic loop to bypass my satelite radio module and my audio started working again. After about a month it stopped working again. A few days later it worked for an hour and then when i started my car again it stopped. Is the fiber optic loop not made to be a permanent fix? Or is it really just for testing purposes? I have a new satelite module coming tomorrow but now I'm scared it's not gonna fix anything

its highly likely it's the tuner amp - they die all the time

according to users on the forum THREE common failures
(but I think its always the amp and it just a change to the system that makes the amp behave for a little while (I replaced my AMP 5 years ago - the old one still works its just flaky and intermittent - although last two times I plugged it in, its worked 100% )
AMP (with integrated tuner, hence the silly acronyms, TTU or TUA - USA is always TTU - they only go the less reliable version, with worse 'Premium' sound quality )

But I replaced the amp first and it didn't work. I returned it and bought the loop and removed the satelite module then it all started working. Why would a bypass down the line cause the amp to all of a sudden start working?

because the whole idea is a flaky mess
do you have LINGUATRONIC ? this was a new module two people said causes it last year
what age car do you have - the hard-drive inside the comand units die - but the later NTG3.5 systems seem to kill the drive AT LEAST three times as fast - under the fold down flap beneath the heater buttons, if you can see bottom left what looks like a removable 2.5" hard-disk caddy (coz thats exactly what it is) - its the later unreliable NTG3.5 comand unit

its possible that more than one unit was playing up
if the sirius unit and the amp are the same age with similar build quality - you may have a similar fault ?
in europe we don't get sirius we get DAB - if you look on ebay the DAB and sirius module is a very similar black casing fitted in the same place - we had one guy claim his MOST fell over and was OK when he looped out his DAB module
