Is it possible to disconnect this without needing to drain the coolant?

Is it possible to disconnect this without needing to drain the coolant?
This metal pipe I have circled here is only on 4Matic models. It’s impossible to remove the fan shroud without removing it. I need a little more room to replace some parts. I can’t remember if I could do this without draining the radiator. Thank you

Yes, you need to drain the radiator and remove that pipe to pull the fan shroud. I replaced an AC compressor this summer and had to drain the coolant on my 4Matic. I drained it to a container and added it back once the job was finished.
