I am really really really starting to love the S-Class coupe after seeing more pictures over the last few days, from certain angles the back end is questionably familiar, but it's definitely a sexy car nonetheless and those are the most beautiful headlights I've ever seen with Swarovski crystals Not to mention you probably can't capture its beauty in photos.

+1... This guy complained so much but doesn't even own his W221 anymore. He a bunch of vids about SRT's.

 

He sounds like a complete idiot. RS7 doesn't compete with the S-Class. SO much misinformation in that video.

Speaking of videos. Here's an utmost-ly cheesy one from M-B. Seriously, I don't think any of their competitors would embark on something so corny. M-B's marketing press is phenomenal in how well they present their cars, IMO showcasing them in ways where in real life the cars can't even live up to in some ways, but some of their video's, such as this are always so cheeky and contrived. S Class and C Class are in it.

 

It seems to be a Daimler AG video showing off their different products like FUSO, FREIGHTLINER, MB trucks,Sprinters, etc... and thanking the consumers.. I don't really see how it's a Mercedes-Benz cars only marketing press.

 

Right, it is a lighthearted attempt to tie together everything they make. My god I don't know why certain people are even here because it is clear that any and everything Mercedes does is wrong.

C'mon, let's look at that with an open mind (i.e not drinking it up because it's Mercedes)! I never said it's "nasty" of them to do, the idea is great, the execution is just cheesy! And that song/music? And M-B struggle why they can't attract the youth market (i.e get perceived as "old person/uncool") therefore start to make their cars look pandering-ly immature.

The idea is great. I love M-B videos where they tie in their heritage, but that one is straight up dorky.

 

Just admit it, nothing Mercedes does is right. The sooner you accept that, the better off we'll all be here.

There is nothing any more cheesy about this ad than Audi's bull**** about luxury car abstinence.

I think M-B makes ads that your mom/dad would embarrassingly make to try and impress your friends to show them how "hip" they are. That's the best way I can put it.

But yeah, car ads are generally cheesy. All just in different ways.

Normally I would agree with some of your insight and put some stock into anti Mercedes opinion because that's what any smart consumer would do, but my God dude everything you say is against Mercedes, their products, their marketing, their design language, their corporate image. We get it. You're a BMW driver now and you don't like the MB brand but seriously all the replies you make are just so vehemently opposed to everything Mercedes it's amazing, paragraph after paragraph about how sh**ty their cars are and how much you disapprove of internal corporate video music choices, get a life or post on a BMW forum! You're on a Mercedes-Benz enthusiast forum!!!

 

Mercedes won't ever whip into shape if they only hear from those who will lap up whatever they put out. If you (or anyone) don't think that video is total cheeseball in its presentation (but not intended message) then I think you are simply opposite of me, but essentially doing the same thing, i.e will like whatever the brand does.

I do think that Mercedes has fallen back in many ways, and I thought that far before I committed to getting a BMW.

Just because I'm on a Mercedes enthusiast board doesn't mean anything. Every forum has passionately dissenting voices. It seems to be the M-B forums who get so whiney and offended by it, which is maybe correlated to the stereotype of who's attracted to M-B's, or maybe because deep down you guys realize and agree with most of what I say, therefore get extra sensitive when I say it.

After all, it is one persons opinion. The more stock everyone puts into it, the more prevalent it starts to naturally appear to be.

Yes exactly. I haven't liked their new direction for awhile now, it really started with the W212 which I detested but then convinced myself around on, got one (actually two), and then M-B doing an insanely un-confident, goofy, haphazardly extensive about-face reconstructive facelift to it was the final straw (they changed every original gimmick they threw on the car for all new even more awkward gimmicks, making a boxy/upright/square car mismatched with melty-found body panels, no balance or holistic harmony to the design whatsoever, as if the designers design every piece on its own, never looking at the car as a final continuous piece), and when I realized just how un-confident and simply amateur these designers appear to be (this is Mercedes, in a premium bracket, they should at the very least be able to design cars and then stand by those cars for one full generation without admitting mistake and doing a total 180.... just looks unbecoming, like a cheaper car brand or something). Now apparently Mercedes is internally "unhappy" with the ML, SL, and plan to do about-face reconstructive surgeries to them to, rendering the V1 models prematurely dated (like they did to the W212 V1). They did it with the GLK, the C interior, etc. In fact, after the W221, I can't remember one M-B where the designers didn't admit fault and have to do an insanely about-face on. If they have no confidence or foresight in their own designs, I figure, why should I support them or entrust them with my money or trust? If I have to be the only one vocal about that and not just let them get away with constantly goofing up, then so be it! For all we know, if recent history proves correct, M-B will do a massive about-face facelift to the W222, suggesting internal discourse over the current design. They've just lost my trust.

I really did consider the W221 but went with the W212 at the time, mostly because I decided to try leasing for the first time instead of buying and as we all know, MBUSA Leases E350's for the cost to lease a fully loaded Camry, practically.

...How is this guy not president! I agree about the wheel arches but the pontoons on the W221 looked very Mazda 3-ish.

 

That's one of my favorite things about the w221. If the w222 had them, I wouldn't change anything else.

 

I just find it funny how he says there's no room for rear passengers and he has the seats almost all the way back, pretty sure it's close to W221 specs.
