Recall 2019020012 MAR19 – 2019 222 correctly fastened seatbelt might be incorrectly detected as unfastened tensioning functions of the seatbelt would not be activated in the event of a crash. Dealer will replace the seatbelt buckles for the affected vehicles. Approximately 48 vehicles affected.

Recall Campaign 2019040024 APR19 – 2018-2019 222, 217 equipped with Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC and Active Steering Assist the Hands-off Detection function of Active Steering Assist may incorrectly assume drivers hands are on the wheel. As a result, the system would not provide any warnings for the driver to return hands to the wheel and would not ultimately bring the vehicle to a stop. Dealer will update the electronic power steering (EPS) software. Approximately 6203 vehicles are involved.

LI82.85-P-069789 MAY19 – as of 2018 222, 217 some webpages using the head unit browser message "Fault during authentication" shows. Operating system only supports TLS1.0 encryption newer encryption methods cannot be shown on the head unit's internet browser.

The correct date and time are necessary for the "Assisted-GPS" function to determine the vehicle position. Dealer will update communication module software. Approximately 24,473 vehicles affected.

Service Campaign 2019060011 JAN20 – 2018 213, 217 ECU software may not meet current production specifications. As a result, Malfunction Indicator Lamp could incorrectly illuminate due to an incorrect detection of an engine misfire. Dealer will update the ECU software. Approximately 57 vehicles affected.
Recall Campaign 2019120010 and/or 2020010002 PENDING – 2018 222 front axle might be equipped with brakes which do not meet current production specifications (brake disc, brake caliper, brake pads), dealer will replace the replace the front axle brake system. Approximately 75 vehicles affected. Affected VINs will be flagged in VMI as “PENDING”, have dealer check VMI.

LI54.30-P-070902 FEB20 – 2016-2019 213, 238, 257, 2018-2019 205, 2018 222, 217 intermittently, the mileage readings in the event memory of the instrument cluster may not exactly match the actual mileage becomes more apparent if long distances are traveled without an ignition cycle. The vehicle's odometer is not affected, memory mileage discrepancy does not exceed 10 miles. Cause: storage logic of the mileage readings in the event memory of the instrument cluster. There is no remedy for this complaint.

Check for signs of external oil loss; exhaust gases (blue smoke); spark plugs; O2 sensors, turbos, cats, exhaust components; perform short test with freeze frame data; compression and leak-down tests; bore scope cylinders. Proceed with appropriate repairs.
