Darker Mats for Beige Interior?
I've always been a fan of lighter interiors - black feels too closed-in for me. I've ordered the beige interior for this one, but I am concerned about the durability of the lighter floor mats for the long term.
It looks like the floor mats being made are black, grey or the beige. I would prefer to have a brown-ish mat that would go better with the beige than a black one. Anyone know how to do that? My W221 had a more tan-colored interior that faired better in the long run than the beige I had in my W220 - the W221 has 176K miles on it right now! Thanks for the advice... |
Like you I like lighter interiors better than dark ones. My original order had the silk beige interior. At the very last minute, I changed my order to the dark colored floors because I was worried that it would not take long for those beige floors to look bad. Since I didn't want to go dark inside, I decided to make a compromise and make the seats a light color and the floor a dark color. Best of both worlds....

So you are talking about the porcelain/black exclusive nappa option?

I also like the lighter colors on the inside. On my w221 while I have the beige interior I went to Coco Mats and bought a slightly darker mat. They look great and are pretty tough.

Any pictures of the porcelain/black interior? What exterior color did you get? Like you, I like the lighter interior but worry about the floor getting dirty. What exterior colors would you suggest with the porcelain interior? Your car sounds awesome! TwinCam

I went with black exterior. I think black or white exterior would both look great with the porecleain/black interior. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps7901d8a0.jpg |
Thanks, Kratos! I will also go with the black exterior with the porcelain/black interior. One of the nicest combinations I have seen. Enjoy! TwinCam

I studied all the combos on this car for months and many many hours..... and I have decided that the black exterior and porcelain/black interior is the best combo for this car, especially with exclusive nappa because the diamond stitching pops the best with this interior better than any other. Just look at the rear door white diamond stitching on that pic I showed. Just pops with all of that black around it. Simply beautiful..... |
You're killing me, man! Seeing that big picture with all the detail put a BIG smile across my face. That is my interior too. I might have to pickup one of those blankets at the factory :) I did get the anthracite Blue for the outside (which I hear can look almost black).

Tom 104 days to Stuttgart Yeah, me too on the blanket thing, LOL. I don't know if the blanket sells the interior or the interior sells the blanket. haha |
Does anyone where to get this blanket?

Good question Tom.....maybe Mercedes threw it in just to mess with us. LOL

When you get to the factory to take delivery , walk into the gift shop. You will find the blanket, not to mention lots of other cool stuff. We picked up a few things while we were there in September!
|
I was hoping it was available there. I will pick that up. Nice for the drive through the Alps too in March. I'm in Florida but I realized the warmth and comfort package will be useful in March in Europe.

Finally got delivery of my 4matic after 8 months! As mentioned earlier, I like light interiors, but the mats in the silk beige interior were starting to look dirty after just a couple of weeks. I found that Lloyd mats makes aftermarket mats cut specifically for the S550 in different carpets piles - not the Weathertec vinyl mats.
Below are pictures of this before and after. The color is not an exact match to the dash, but they are cut exactly like the OEM mats except a little longer in the footwell. Exactly the same width, so doesn't protect the sides. Has hooks to the floor points. This is the Luxe version - easily twice as think as the OEM mats. I think this will be a great help to those with beige interiors, as there was no way I could keep those clean even in the summer with those occasional showers that just pop up. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...a3f3e920ed.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...8ae90e64cb.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...92132d3e7f.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...c479119b7c.jpg |
I always preferred the darker mats look when added to lighter interior.

I got the OEM all weather beige matts, they do get dirty quick.....but whatever.....
your car looks great! |

funny how someone in the back might need a blanket: with the heated panels and seats |

I've hunted around using search engines and the only thing I have found so far is this...

not bad eh? and part Cashmere:naughty: but is it Scottish or Italian cashmere?:rolf:
guess it would be nice to have those floating around in the beackseat; to clean up spilled drinks and clean up doughnut sprinkles and what not :) |
