Disable Door Handle Button from Locking Car with Keyless-Go

Hello all,

As some may recall, I am taking my car on the Auto Train soon. I have Keyless-Go and I wanted to make sure they could not accidentally arm the alarm. Amtrak suggests making sure the alarm is not active as the movement could trigger the alarm (at least on some cars).

My question is if anyone knows how to essentially disable the button on the door handle from locking the car? I removed the button from the dash but I can still lock the car with the door handle.

My concern is that the chap loading the car will have the key in his hand, and close the car door. He could accidentally touch the button on the door handle and the car would lock and set the alarm. I want to prevent this from happening.

I just went though the manual and found several unrelated things (lock all doors versus driver's for example) but nothing on point.

I am going to the dealer tomorrow for the backup camera update so I will ask there, but as the collective knowledge on this forum bests any dealer, I thought I would ask here first.

Thanks!

I think you can disable KG by pressing the lock doors button twice from the key fob but I don't think it works the other way around.

Wouldn't it be sufficient to disable the tow away protection, there must be a button at the roof panel like on older models?

Tom, I do not know the answer to your main question here. However, as far as your appointment is concerned for tomorrow, it is actually an update for the entire Surround View system and not just the backup camera. If you turn on the 360 Surround View at night, the entire area around the car looks dark and not just in the rear. The software update fixes this problem completely. You will be very pleased.

Related to the update, they bricked my car! Lokey MB in Clearwater will have it overnight to fix it but they said it locked up when they tried the Surround View update. I knew the software would be the challenging part of these cars So, plan accordingly when you get updates performed as it doesn't always go as planned.

Oh wow Tom! Sorry to hear this. I don't understand hope they could have screwed it up. When the local dealer did the update on mine, it was a piece of cake.

I know many older Benzes have a way to disable the motion sensors for the alarm when you turn the car off (via a button on the dash or overhead dome light area). Perhaps the 222 carries over the same function- somewhere.

Tom - Did you get your issue resolved with the update locking up your Command head unit? Thanks.

Unfortunately, they were not able to fix it before I needed to leave. They ordered the command module overnight but MB sent the wrong one. The plan is to replace the command unit to put it back to the way it was. I will do that in a couple of weeks when I get back. So on my trip, I am missing my surround view camera and backup camera. Time to drive old school again

I will wait for the September update ( but wait until October).

I would ask any shop doing the update if they have performed the specific update you want. I don't want to be the first anymore.
