Eco stop start doesn't work

2015 S 550 4matic, 680 miles although eco is not turned off, the car has never gone into the eco mode, the engine never having turned off. Our 2015 ML250 and 2013 SL550 both stop start now that its warmed up above 40 degrees F, so its not the weather. Unlike so many readers, I like this feature and want it to work.
Any thoughts?

Does Eco display green on the dash? If so, yes there is a problem, if it is yellow then it hasn't met the conditions required to shut off

E is green

The E is green next to the PNDLR display, however the circled A herein called the @ equal to the ECO on my other cars (I think) which turns yellow or green does not appear where this icon should appear and never has. All selectable buttons are in eco mode with green LED illumination as is the @ button. I suspect something is wrong and I am dropping the car off at the dealer for investigation.

There is an interaction between using the flipper paddles and Eco mode in my S600. I have not fully figured it out, but ECO is only reliable (i.e., works) if I don't use the flipper paddles. When I do use the paddles, its hit or miss if Eco does its thing.

Not trying to be rude, but the User Manual clearly states that "The ECO start/stop function is only available in drive program E (drive program C on AMG vehicles)".

Turning either the "S" (sport) or "M" (manual) modes ON will deactivate the ECO function.

780 miles on the odometer and after a 15 mile (each way) trip to the airport to pick someone up, ambient temperature 64 degrees F, no change, no eco stop function. I stopped on the way to the dealer at home for about 5 minutes. On the way to the dealer in heavy traffic, the stop start function came on 4 times. I made a U turn and went home. Hopefully the problem is solved.

But, you see, I did not switch any modes, I simply flipped the paddles.

On my '14 S550 4matic when it is in the "E" mode, if you use the paddle shifters it automatically takes it out of "E" mode into the manual mode which cancels the ECO automatically.
