The dashcam only gets gps 50 % of the time...
I believe it's an issue with the MB glass in your model..I run a windshield camera which maintains a good gps connection..but use a BEL STiR+ that uses it's own dongle gps I mounted under the hood and it works fine also..I think the ML hood is composite btw
To the op a V1 without Waze or V1c will drive you crazy (I still run one in my ZR1 just cause I had it) and the falses are brutal...

The problem with the Passport 9500ci with the ZR4 shifters is it is "old" school. They will not detect the latest laser guns (Dragon Eye). Escort does not update, except red light cameras. Every study I have seen shows that the Passport fails with the new laser guns. Looking at ALP, but 3 times more in cost.
Yes 9500ci is old..not sure why you brought it up..as I say I use the BEL STiR+ with ALP jammers....and my wife's/kids vehicles 9500ix windshield units..and V1 with ALP in the vette..Dragon Eye guns used extensively here and the ALP offers bulletproof defense

I have a 9500ix in the ML and another Max in the SL. Both are great.
It is the infrared coated glass on the S class and the tiny cutouts in the coating. I can't even imagine the V1 directional system working since the glass is coated throughout.
The Bel's are cool but I think they are internally the same as the Passports, aren't they?
No the BEL STiR+ is a total different detector..built in with remote antenna rather than windsheild mount..and different from the Escort that one can set K band filtering..has all the gps features of the 9500ix and is much more sensitive...also now integrates with the ALP system (although you lose the gps lockouts)
There is only one ALP model..a base base controller..you can add up to 5 sensors..add bluetooth to control via smartphone..add remote speaker...etc..
It is a very robust company always updating and introducing new functions and hardware..

How do you have this wired in? My add a fuse is one of the mini blades and cannot fit any of the fuse slots
Just purchased my first MB (a new '15 S550) and picking it up on Monday. I have historically always used V1's in my BMWs, and had planned to purchase one for the S550, however the salesman said it would have issues because of Distronic. Any truth to that? Anyone use the Escort Max or the new Escort 360 yet?

I have S550 2015. Mounted my V1 just to the left of the mirror. Works perfecly. Only my radar trips it is when I am in front of a wall or door. I wired it to the fuse block on the drivers side. Found a terminal that is only hot when engine is running..

I suggest you investigate the MidCity Engineering gear...they have interfaced some BEL products into the dash very nicely..also very improtant DO consider the ALP system and note the STiR+ offers Ka band filtering of which the 9500 does not
