AMG GTC Roadster, E63s Ed.1, M8 Comp. Coupe
These are heavy cars that benefit for the V8 torque; I think this car makes little sense for the US at a price point that is still north of $100k.
I drove the SL400 extensively in Europe and have the SL550 here; the SL both being lighter and faster than the S-Class coupe or sedan and think the savings aren't worth the disadvantages in driving behavior.

I'll take mine with a biturbo V8. Minimal cost and gas savings on a 6 figure car.
As far as weight savings Wolfman is right - it's going to be similar to the SL400 3836 lbs vs SL550 4001 lbs = 165 lbs. Some of this weight difference is from the standard premium package on the 550 which adds weight (massaging seats, trunk closer, etc). The S550 4M coupe weighs 4707 lbs so 165 lbs will be less noticeable in terms of handling.
