As you may know - I've only had S Classes since 2000. So it was quite a departure.

I don't miss it as I thought I would.

Congrats!
A stunning looking 911, will make you feel younger.

Can't make this **** up. Well! I'm not lucky with my cars - but I thought Id have it a month without a problem.
I went to a coffee shop to get coffee. I parked it legally on the street (bad move I know). I came out - and I saw this....Don't know who did it - but that's what insurance is for. The bodyshop told me they are going to just replace the door panel, not try to repair it.
Using the best body shop on the east coast (they have fixed the family cars 4 times already). Just thought I'd share the news - anyone wanna give me a hug? lol

Ah man, that sucks! I really feel for you, friend. The huge deal here, will be the color match. With computer matching these days, it's light years better than it used to be, but getting it to look the same as the fenders, in all lighting situations is going to be tough. Then, the real test comes a year or two later, when the factory painted vs. the body shop painted panels rarely fade the same. But this the chance we all take, driving these gorgeous cars. Wishing you the best of luck for a perfect fix.

Don't believe it will be an issue. The body shop is authorized by every high end manufacturer (bentley, rolls, bugatti, lambo, etc) and they have only the best ratings. I've used them 4 times - never an issue.

He must be having a really hard time economically to stoop that low. In the big picture, I wish him well - especially with the holiday seasons approaching.

Sorry to see that happen to you! A good body shop will take of that of course but fixing it is hassle and kills time and some money.
I'd be more concerned about keeping the interior/door sills brand new while being repaired.

We had a (small) hit and run on our SL just one day after we got it. Most people just don't care or try to find reasons why you deserved the damage. Few people take ownership of their actions.

Hope they get it fixed fast!

Looks like someone just kicked hard the panel a couple times, dirty boots too.
In the end, he is still a loser and you will fix it and still have a gorgeous 911 he can only dream about.

Crap, I feel your pain!!! That sucks royally..... Is it all the way through the paint or just he clear coat. Since they will replace the door anyway, its a stretch, but have a good dent / ding guy take a look, he cannot do any more damage to try. It is nearly impossible to do it 100% without touching the 2 fenders..... But if they say they can do it, that's great, but if your like me, it REALLY SUCKS and will never be OEM....... Did you contact Porsche directly to see if they can possibly get you a painted door panel? Does not hurt to try all avenues, possibilities...

My bodyshop said they are going to get me a new porsche door direct from the factory and paint it in the same color. They have my VIN and they're going to mix the paint per factory standards. They are top notch. I am trying to find a picture of my mother's Audi A8L - it was literally SLICED OPEN from trunk to front bumper - it looked like a tin can. The body shop gave me back the car looking mint.

Most body shops I know over the years always recommend doing the side for the perfect match, but if they can do jus the door, I would be extremely happy with that! 100% never, but 99.9% still wins.

Crap, I feel a bit of your pain and I don't even have your car. I wish you well with the repair.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

P.S. I know its a bit too late to ask a dumb question, but were there any cameras in the area that may have something on video? You would be surprised what you may find if you check. I'm in the Security business and cameras today cover a lot of area very clear.

Another reason to purchase a Dash Cam....

Just doing my yearly lurk/pass through. Haven't been in the luxury car game for a while. Maybe in a couple years.

I had this happen to me in my ML, two separate occasions two different doors, both of which I don't know who the perpetrator was. Happened to me in Bronxville, NY, which if you know where that is, it's not a bad neighborhood by any means. Brought it to JB, looks factory. I don't believe in insurance unless it costs me <20k so I forked up the 7k to get it done. Anyways, these guys are the best in the biz.

BTW this community where both of my hit and runs occurred the houses sell for at least 2M, so these types of animals can come from anywhere.

JB fixed this - my mother's A8L back to factory. Was $40k +

I go through insurance as they have never raised our premiums because of these accidents - none of which involved error on my part (seems to be always when parked - or at a standstill).

Wouldn't bring the cars to anyone else.

Howdy!!!!!

Yes yes! J&B did a fantastic job. No issues. Love the car more everyday - and so do my friends, who often ask to drive it. It's my pleasure to let them - I am sure they'd do the same for me if I were on the requesting end.

I have not yet floored it - no need. The beast screams off Zero and hits 60 in just over 3 seconds and has an ENORMOUS amount of grip. I really can't believe it! Coming off of 3 S Classes - it's a large departure for me.

I have no complaints!

And I went the other way...

Recently sold my 2013 911 and bought an S Class. My 911 was a stick and after we sold the house and moved to the beach, the traffic is so bad here that it just wasn't fun to drive any more.

I do love the S Class...

Enjoy your 911! There is NOTHING like driving one. Nothing!

My last 911 was a 2009 coupe with a stick. At the time, I also still had my 2004 SL500. I found that after the newness of the 911 wore off, when I wanted to go for a fun drive, I'd take the SL. Also, I find that I am a MUCH more aggressive driver when driving a stick and I didn't like that. I sold the 911 and currently have my S550 and a 2013 SL550 and I'm pretty happy with both.

I lived in Marina del Rey for 20 years before moving to Newport Beach. The traffic in pretty much any area of L.A. Is just NUTS these days and getting worse every day. Come on down to The OC!

OC has its fair share of traffic as well. My in laws lived in Dana Point and it was a bear to get there most of the time! They sold their house as well and moved to The Marina. They do complain about traffic here though. But they complain about everything, so....

excellent. thank you. i am researching hard the 2017 to add to my garage as the new turbo motor puts out the torque at a lower level than did my previous 911s did. always my biggest complaint with prior models was that you needed 5500rpms to get the rush; with the new motor, it comes on at 1900 and remains linearly all the way. thanks for the feedback. be safe. cheers.

I read it bolts out at 1750Rpm and my tests on the car back that up. It's pretty amazing. I opted for the standard exhaust which I personally feel is loud enough - though many will tell you I am wrong. Personal opinion I guess. Sports Exhaust would be screaming in a tunnel as mine is pretty darn loud if you ask me.

I have the 14 way power seats and they seem to be a terrific fit.

Overall its a great car - makes me very happy to see it each time I get in.
