Well August is historically the month they release the summer cars too.. hardly ever in July even if they come early.. so I anticipate sometime in August we will all be happy campers with our new cars |
This happens every year LOL!!
|
Hey everyone,
Great news for you guys. I am waiting for a 2019 C43 coupe so was just keeping up to date on 2019s in general. Do any of you know if its a general North American release of just specific to USA? ( I am in Canada) - Thank you. And congrats to all waiting for their new car. |
That's definitely awesome news for me as well. My 2019 S450 has been in Baltimore since July 11. So, if this the case that MBUSA is releasing these cars early to mid August, then they will likely ship mine to Des Moines around August 7 I imagine.

Hello all, just some input for you.
Something to consider is that leases do not have "interest rates" - they have what are called "money factors" which are calculated differently. There is no 2.99% figure for you to use in your head; instead, the money factor might be .00238 or .00xxx. The money factor is the calculation used to charge you for the contract, just like a normal interest rate. |
Does anyone else not love the new redesigned steering wheel? I have a 2016 so maybe the 2018 already incorporated this new design, I am not sure. But on the '19s, I feel like there is just too much of a chrome look and to me it looks fake (esp that giant dip down the bottom)? Dunno...
I have the first picture below on my current '16 (different wood) and absolutely love it. I ordered the second photo below for the 2019. Even the upgraded style I requested has that silver part going down that kind of dominates the look. I hope I will grow to love it as much as my current one because that is just gorgey with all that lovely wood. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...09ede82fb7.jpg Upgraded 2019 I ordered: https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...f9333f29d5.jpg |
I feel the same way... especially when I first saw the pictures... but all the new 2019’s are getting in.. the C Class, E and S.... to me it’s just too much chrome.. but I’ll wait to see how it looks in person and like you said hopefully it will grow on me. |
Well, on your 2016, I do not think you have the wood portion of your steering wheel heated. But you will find out in your 2019 that it is... May be that will make up for some of the discomfort you have with the new wheel design.
I also do agree that there is a bit too much chrome look, but overall, I think the steering wheel design is better in looks relative to the previous one. My 2 cents. |
Has anyone heard anything new today on the release date for the 2019 S Class?
|
I was going to wait till Aug 1st to bug him since it is a new month. I am assuming if anything was announced today he would have contacted me immediately anyway.

There are also rumors about a 60 day hold possibly going on.. this is with all the 2019’s.. and it could have something to do with Customs too.. when these things happen, it’s all in the air and it could get released at Anytime... be it mid August, Sept or start of Oct.. but it could also be MBUSA buying time to get more 2019s stocked at the VPC centers for all dealers in addition to giving dealers more time to sell as many of the 2018’s as possible |

Agreed. Talked to my guy too and he said MB has not said anything official and when they do release the cars it will be spontaneous that they find out. he said it’s not customs because the cars are not getting held up in customs they have already passed customs and most are at the VPC centers which means MB has full control at this point.. but it’s more so to do with sales. Which are not what they expected... and threat of tariffs is not helping.. this could go one of two ways.. they would want to start discounting more to get actual sells or they could try to not at all and loose some sells to gain more profit because of the low sells |

Clearly sales aren't the reason. Most dealers last month didn't have enough stock to begin with and the proof is that Mercedes had a 22 percent sales drop last month because of it. Their SUV sales are being disrupted because of a fire at a supplier that caused production to cease on the GLE and GLS. I don't know why they would hold up the 2019s when a lot of dealers didn't have enough 2018s to sell last month.
M August 01, 2018 01:30 PM Eastern Daylight Time ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) today reported July sales of 20,034 Mercedes-Benz models, a decrease of 22.7% from July 2017. Mercedes-Benz Vans reported July sales of 2,921 units (up 5.9%) and smart reported 103 units, bringing MBUSA to a grand total of 23,058 vehicles for the month. On a year-to-date basis, sales of Mercedes-Benz vehicles totaled 178,882, with an additional 19,831 units for Vans and 753 vehicles for smart, bringing the sales volume to 199,466, a decrease of 4.4% from last year. “July sales were impacted by a number of factors, resulting in a temporary dealer inventory shortfall relating to our changeover to model year 2019,” said Dietmar Exler, president and CEO of MBUSA. “We also experienced a mainframe outage which affected our dealers’ ability to conduct business during the busiest week of the month. The IT recovery is nearing completion, and we are working closely with our customers and dealers to help alleviate any inconvenience resulting from the model year 2019 delays. While we expect to replenish our inventory levels in the fall, these developments will likely have a negative impact on sales in the coming months.” Mercedes-Benz volume leaders in July included the GLE, GLC and C-Class model lines. The GLE took the lead at 4,447, followed closely by GLC sales of 4,446. The C-Class rounded out the top three with 3,841 units sold. July sales of Mercedes-AMG high-performance totaled 2,008 units, with 17,328 vehicles sold year-to-date. Separately, Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned (MBCPO) models recorded sales of 10,508 vehicles in July, an increase of 21.4% when compared to the same month last year (8,654). On a year-to-date basis, MBCPO sold 72,629 vehicles, an increase of 5.5% over 2017 (68,848). Sorry but you are not correct per my dealer and MBUSA. The supplier fire in Michigan directly impacted the metal brackets for the HUD display units in the S Class and the S63 per my MBUSA sources (I assume they are correct). The S Class order guide for the '19 S class has the HUD delayed on the S560 and S450 while the S63 and S65 HUD is only limited availability.
Mercedes-Benz U.S. International Inc., in a statement released from its plant in Vance, Ala., said: "The damage caused at Meridian has caused a shortage of components used in our cockpits for some of our vehicles built at MBUSI. As a result, we have cancelled production shifts in certain areas and adjusted production hours for our team members this week. We continue to assess the situation and are working with Meridian to restore normal production levels." Mercedes assembles the C class, GL, GLS, GLE and GLE Coupe at the Alabama plant. Meridian supplies a crossbar beam to Mercedes that holds the dashboard in the SUVs. |

I'd assume they're wrong. You do realize that the S63 is built in Germany right? Sorry, but they just fed you that. I'd go by automotive news, a well trusted industry source.
http://www.autonews.com/article/2018...-supplier-fire Are you serious? Or are you just an idiot that does not want to be wrong? Of course I know the S63 is made in Germany--I have been to the factory in Sindelfingen more times than the number of socks you own. How many times have you been to the MB plant in Sindelfingen? The most recent visit was a year ago and my next visit is by the end of this year. Do you understand what Meridian does?--they are a world supplier even though most parts are sourced locally to a factory the Meridian Magnesium plant sources their unique metallurgical products throughout the world from their Michigan facility. Sorry but you appear to be a someone who does not want to be proved wrong! What is your issue? A graceful person would simply say they may be wrong but you think you know more than the rest of the world. I feel very sorry for you. |

Did I strike a nerve? I just asked if you knew where the car was built, many here have no clue. Yes I know what the supplier does, but nothing I've seen indicates that this has affected S-Class production, that is all I'm saying here. I gave you a source, you didn't give squat beyond what someone told you and your assumption that they were right. If you can prove that it did affect S-Class production I have no problem admitting that I was wrong.

So it is Aug 3rd and I have not heard anything yet about my S560. Anyone else?
