Cloth covered panel

I don't have heads up display. Wish I did. For those of us that don't have HUD, what is under the cloth/fabric cover that fills in the space where the HUD projector would be located? I placed my hand on it and it feels like a speaker is under it. If that is the case, do those with HUD not have this speaker? Has anyone retrofitted HUD? Are the wires in place for it?

On our Maybach when you pop that panel off you will find that there are TWO speakers that attach to the panel you have to disconnect to totally remove the panel. Come to think of it I might be incorrect. One of the items might be a temp sensor or sun load sensor.

The Hud is nice but i have written about this. The top options I would get on a standards S class would be the 3d radio, massage front seats, magic body control, and the auto drive features.

I pondered that for a long drive and it seems that no matter what colour your dash is that cloth piece almost totally eliminated the reflection of the dash up on the windshield under certain sunlight conditions.
