Trunk would not stay closed
231-750-00-85, but the SL will have a different part
Going to be a few weeks before I can install it.
If you go to a dealer they can get the part sooner and will probably install it quickly, but you pay for that service.
I sprayed some silicone lubrication in there for now.
It took about an hour. I used the beginning of this video as a guide.
notes:
the only tools were a T30 wrench and a screwdriver to remove the plastic fasteners.
you only need to remove the trunk lid liner. You do not need to remove the arm covers, and do not remove the two square-holed bumpers. You will have to reach in and unplug the lights and buttons.
to remove the key cylinder, just loosen the T30 screw and turn the cylinder a quarter turn.
However this time that did not resolve the issue. Temps were below freezing for about a week before it happened. This time I resolved it by taking a screwdriver and manually latching the trunk while it is open. then i hit the red button on the trunk lid. The latch opened and the trunk went on to work as it should with no further issue. But im dreading the next time this happens that i wont have a solution.
I expect better from the benchmark luxury sedan.

Lubricant didn't help and the green button only worked a few time, so I ended up having the latch replaced.
