She's arrived
Well after what seemed like an eternity I picked up the car today. I have noticed thanks to your advice that one of the door leds isn't working so they have agreed to sort that . Also the front console cover is missing. Apart from that car appears to be in great condition .I'm finding the Command Centre interestingly challenging after the 7 series but I'm sure I will figure it out. Really love the way it drives .

Lookin good! Congrats!
|
Looks great! You'll feel like a king driving it. :)
|
Now that's pretty
|
As I've said before, you have good taste sir!
|
Beautiful color, love the wheels. Enjoy it in good health.
|
Congrats, great looking car.
|
Congrats!
|
Very nice. The best with it.
|
Nice car , happy driving :)
|
Nice SWB!
|
Congrats on the new car Conor, looking great. Wishing you all the best with it.
Hopefully you can keep it cleaner than mine, impossible to keep a white car clean in rural Ireland :( |
Looks fantastic. I realize it is just a matter of preference and utility, but mine, too, is SWB and for my purposes I really prefer that. It feels less like I am driving a limo especially when in the car by myself. I also prefer the proportions (but again - it's just personal preference - not slagging the LWB).
They really are beautiful cars. Enjoy! |
Thanks Gents , the wheels were actually refurbed the colour of the car supposedly .
|
Congrats on your new car!
If you are referring to the wood cover in the center console, they are sliding covers that are usually just pushed in too far and not visible. There are several posts on this forum that discuss giving that. |
As above regarding the console wood cover, several people have mentioned in the past about this, if you just hook your fingers over the rear edge of the opening and slightly push you may find the cover springs out and up.
|
Thanks Gents , I can’t see any but will certainly double check .
@ roviw1 Didnt you used to have an XJ? |

Well spotted. I had the red XJL from 2011 until August 2019 when a drunk driver hit me and it was written off. I replaced it with a 2015 Portfolio XJL in blue, I searched the whole of the UK for a suitable Claret replacement to no avail so blue was my second choice, very pleased with it as I have had Jaguars for 30 years now and this is my 10th. I had never had a S Class before and I am very pleased with my one. your new car looks lovely and I hope you will really enjoy it, I have had mine three years next month. I still go on the Jaguar forums as well as the Mercedes’ ones. |
I remembered the Claret one as I was on that Forum too. That's a real shame as it was a lovely car. I sold my XJ and traded it for an XFS diesel but felt short changed as it was nowhere near as good as the XJ.
On the console door I went out at 2am to check after your post and the door is indeed there but it's jammed, I will work on it today, glad as I was hovering over buying a used one on Ebay. Thanks . |

Hopefully some lubricant of some sort will help . A good thing the supplier is going to sort out the led's in the handles, I have the offside ones working but the nearside do not, it is apparently a common issue, however the " book price " to repair them is something like £300 plus per door as the whole inside panel has to be removed and then worked on to remove the actual lock and handle, the bulb is then swapped and then the whole lot refitted. I enquired about the warranty covering it and they said it did not..... arghh, i have left mine for now, a lot of people do not know the lights are there as they have all stopped working. I have removed door panels from other cars but the Merc looked a bit more work than the Jaguar ones. A friend had an XFS, he did like it but I think as you found it is a completely different car to the XJ. The colour of your merc looks lovely, I was out in mine last night and had friends with me and they remarked how smooth and comfortable it was. |

Haha, did laugh when you said you went out at 2am to check, that is definitely something we car fans would do instead of waiting until the morning.

Yes, Indigo blue, mine has the ivory interior which looks nice. The XFS is a good looking car as well and very smart wheels you had, my friends one was the earlier model,

Good news gents , managed to locate and free the console cover thank you all. It’s not retracting as freely as it should so might try a little bit of lubricant sparingly to see if it improves over time.Off to change the pollen filters now .
