Someone hit my car, don't even have the temp tags off yet
So he sideswiped the drivers side rear bumper. Damage looks to be limited to scrape marks fairly deep, but I'm guessing the entire bumper will have to be repainted. No other panels touched luckily. So if I go to the dealership what is that process like? Guy who hit me has good insurance, State Farm. I'll post pics after monsoon here where I'm at stops.

Sorry to hear about it .I don't know about the procedure either .
I'm sure it will be as good as new and wish you no more nuisance like that at all Happy Driving |
If it’s a really small area, it may be worth just having it touched up. A professional touch-up can usually look 80-90% as good. In my opinion even a high-quality repaint is never as good as factory.
That being said, if the bumper does need a repaint I would search around for the best bodyshop in the area. In my experience that is never a dealer-owned facility. Good luck! |
That sucks, sorry to hear it!
The dealership that I use has an employee of a third party bodyshop on-site most of the time, he may as well be their employee! We had to use them after a deer ran into the side of my wife’s last car, they did a great job, insurance took care of it, and it never went near CarFax. Be ready for a wait if you need any new parts! |
Take the car only at a Mercedes certified body shop, you would not recognize the repair, they even match the factory paint tickness....
