You don't understand the impact 1 degree has on the earth's climate. It doesn't make any sense to believe that all of the chemicals we pump into the atmosphere that don't occur naturally has no impact on the environment. Thats just absurd, of course it does. Just because you don't understand those impacts doesn't mean that they don't exist. They are easily measured, have been measured and are clear.
As for EVs and the electric grid, the grid will be fine.

The numbers are always skewed to arrive at a conclusion that fits a specific agenda. Kinda like Al Gore's hockey stick graph. Pure ridiculousness.

A 2019 review of scientific papers found the consensus on the cause of climate change to be at 100%, and a 2021 study concluded that over 99% of scientific papers agree on the human cause of climate change. The small percentage of papers that disagreed with the consensus either cannot be replicated or contain errors

I'm not an "environmentalist" by any means, but it makes no sense at all to think that we have an "immeasurably small" impact on the environment

In any event this move by MB is not because of EVs, they just have too many models

Why should we be forced, slowly, to rely on electric when there are always power outages? How many of 1000's are without power in the US right now due to storms/weather etc? And the gov wants us to rely further on this grid for cars?!
Sometimes when it RAINS hard the power goes out in my area of NC!!
Call your electric provider and ask them to recommend another power company and see what they say.

By the way, this must be because of the low investment on electricity grids. At my place the majority of power lines below 20 kV are buried underground even if our climate is very calm compared to yours. You don't have to be prepared for a nut neighbour (country near by).

Some of the existing electric cars are perfect for places that have electricity outages. They can provide electricity to your house while the grid is off.
