I have used Leatherique for about 10 years on all types of leather, including multiple sets of perforated AMG seats. I’ve never once had an issue with this product. I’ve even had it sit dry on seats that are in storage, for years. Ive reapplied the product to a wet looking state for up to a week at a time in the heat before removing the product. Its the best on the market. The only issues people can have in my experience are removal of dye from seats that have been Re-dyed, or if someone makes the seats extremely wet with the product, but not evenly and some perforations soak up more material than others.. apply slow and evenly to the perfs.

my method is first use as strong a degreaser as you are comfortable with that is not strong enough to remove dye. I like nearly full strength meguires red concentrate. (Test for yourself) Dye should not be an issue unless it has been redyed. Next I wipe the degreaser off with some water till it stops being foamy and wipe to a dry state. Do not let this degreaser sit on the leather or dry on the leathe. After that I apply the Leatherique conditioner evenly all over the seat. As it soaks in I reapply until it does not soak in anymore. This may take a day or two of reapplication. Once the seat appears to stay wet, its time to remove with prestine clean and warm water. This step removes al the dirt that the conditioner floats to the top. It’s a messy sticky process but will be better than any other product. The goal of the process is to resoak the leather with the fats from the conditioner. It’s not an oil. You will see instructions that specifically address the laminar flow of the conditioner into the seams of the seat, which also means you can get that laminar flow through the perforated areas..

Even with coated leather, this product floats all of the dirt out of the pores. Remember that the coating on treated leather does wear away and this is a way to keep that coating supple as well..

In that I have reupholstered a vehicle (3times) to include steaming the foam and all new leather, I’m pretty confident in my assertion of this product and upholstering skills. I’m even happy to use a rolling wheel or lacrosse ball to really work out the leather like you see a upholsterers do when they are beating up the seats. Condition, Steam, beating/stretching fibers. These steps are especially needed at the seat ever gotten wet from a rain event and the resulting leather is stiff.

Of course, if your seats are cracked some of these variables change because those cracks could become more pliable than the hard leather around them and this creates a situation to make a seat worse. Ultimately, it’s about even application..

comparative products of the past and for quick cleaning are lexol, griots, and honey. NOTHING works like leatherique.

I've used it, its a great product but IMO its a product for restoring old and neglected leather...using it twice a year seems overkill to me.

I drive about 20k miles per year so the car is under heavy use. Not to mention I park outside for work in the middle of a desert where it reaches 115 degrees on a regular basis. Those two factors led me to do this. The driver's seat cushion of the car was already in this condition when I purchased the vehicle. Only took me so long to swap the seat cover as I struggled to find the cover for under $1,200. The rest of the interior is in fantastic shape!
