Apple Carplay/ Android auto

I am seriously considering adding the apple carplay/ androd auto option to my 2015 Sclass. My Mercedes service advisor referred me to a local stareo shop that works on their vehicles. Their quote for the installed system is $1800. But I see some options for the unit that range from $499 to $899. Just wondering if anyone has had this done professionally and if this is a reasonable price? I did see some options for DIY but I would not trust my competency to do this install myself.

I installed the Roadtop unit myself in about 2 hours. It's super easy and requires only 3 tools.

Best upgrade I've done. $1800 sounds steep!

i got a quote for $1200 from a local place in Bay Area, I am completely NOT going to take my S-Class apart, I am trying to see if i can source and find someone that can do the install. $1800 is crazy expensive

If you're close to New Mexico, I'll do it for $999 and I'll supply the Carplay module and give a 5:50 warranty. 😀

You'd be surprised at how easy the installation is. Mercedes does an excellent job making the interior parts easily serviceable.

Pretty sure I could have the center console out of the way in 5 minutes.
