Garage door opener - works at short distance
I’ve notice that the garage door opener works, but only from a short distance. Very short like right in the driveway. My Tundra pickup will open that sucker from half a block away.
Is this common? Anyone else have this issue? I’m using button one but I can’t imagine that makes a difference. There is nothing like a tolltag or anything on the window (yet).

Mine has the best range of any of the cars in our fleet, but we are using a repeater for the openers, because my son’s BMW couldn’t communicate with the openers directly.

With our new Chamberlain brand garage door opener we have to be right in front of the garage with the car facing the garage to get it to work. If I am pulling out with the front of the car exiting the freaking garage door opener does not work. Pisses me off every time. The old garage door opener I could get from half a block away

I was able to resolve the issue by throwing some money at it and it’s a much better solution now.
Meross Smart Garage Door Opener
Now all we have to do is say “Siri open the garage door” or “Siri close the garage door” and we can do that from any distance. Works perfectly. We also have a MyQ as a backup, but they don’t allow third party API anymore so no more HomeKit solutions there.
That Meross opener is a little tricky to setup and get just right but then it’s pretty dang perfect and I think much better once we get used to saying it.

@bdunn We do not risk either in our homes. We use UTM to block all AI resources on our entire network at our home (as well as clinical environments).
Now, off to finish making my new tin-foil hat for the new year ;-)

Yeah, but MyQ is going the complete opposite direction unfortunately. Shooting themselves in the foot for some reason. It was possible to make it controllable with AA and CP until just recently when they shut that down.

sometimes it can be the type light bulb you have in opener.
LEDs bulbs can impact range greatly (per Chamberline/Lift master)
Antenna not hanging down straight
Opener mother board going out.
Door itself
Chamberlin/lift master help line (actual people answer phone) are very helpful and can ensure your stuff is working correctly.
Best test is the original Handheld remote.

The IR glass (purple tint, standard in USA) reduces the range of the garage transmitter, especially in the backwards direction. The module should have been adequated with an external antenna but it's self contained in the mirror.

Same situation for me as the OP. I have to be in about a 5 car length distance, to get the door to open or close, through the programming integral to the car. The remotes have maybe twice that range.

I HATE using SIRI, and I discourage anyone I know from using it. Usually by the time they have an answer, I have already typed it in and gotten an answer myself. Probably the same personal or private data, and metadata, being collected and stored.
I never cease to be amazed how I get bombarded by information and marketing that I have only been THINKING about. How do it know? SKYNET!!!

I have Chamberlain MyQ in my garage attached to a circa 1999 Genie Rolling code, my Nissan Leaf and (old and sold) Q45 worked from about 2-3 houses away but Benz I need to be right in front. If I think if it i use the MyQ or wait until I am right in front of the door for it to work. I am not planning to replace it until it dies, no watch it dies cause I said that out loud.
