Seems like a common issue with MBUX lately, it is probably a bad update (which gets pushed over-the-air and installed automatically) I came across several posts of the display suddenly going out for GLC and E-Class owners too with the MBUX 1.0 (NTG 6) although your car has MBUX 2.0. It is unlikely a hardware defect.

Happened on my wife's GLE once about a month ago. I turned the car off and let it sit in the garage, next time I came in the car display worked again, no issues since, hopefully just a "once in a blue moon" thing.

Sorry to hear that glad it didn't happen again though, hopefully the buggy software update gets replaced soon via OTA. OP might still have the buggy update for some reason while your car has the latest patched one.
I had the same thing happen randomly on the main display on my 18 w222. After I turned off the car completely, locked, unlocked, and restarted the car the display came on and hasn't happened since.

I am just guessing, but maybe it was in the middle of an update? I hope it continues to work now.
I thought I previously replied, but once I turned off the car, came back out about 15 minutes later all was well. Hasn’t happened since( knock on wood).

I don't know, but doesn't bother me too much, hasn't happened since then and has been the only small issue. My '17 540i was worse, so many electrical gremlins with that one. We've had the GLE for about 4 months and in that same amount of time for the 540i the complete iDrive system failed, the gauge cluster cropping constantly was wrong, and many other HVAC system issues. Switching from the 5er to the CLS was probably one of the best decisions I've made
This just happened to my s580 yesterday and it’s not fun.
Thankfully the hud still works and has a speedometer. I will take it to dealer today as i want it fixed.

turned the car on today and screen works so I’m with everyone else and willing to just wait and see if it returns before going to dealer now.
I still think it has to do with a bad over-the-air update, otherwise I don't see why it happened to multiple vehicles with NTG 5.5 and NTG 6 (MBUX) from different tier of vehicles this week and last week.
So hopefully that is it and now everything is patched, everyone who posted above me would no longer have this issue again. Fingers crossed.

That should be easy to check on the Mercedes Me app. Just go, select "More" and then "Over-the-Air Updates". It should show the dates on all software updates...
