Agreed on both counts. I have also found salespeople often just let me drive the car by myself which I much prefer.
Especially a car like this, I'm not buying a $130,000+ car after one 15 minute test drive. I spent hours driving S Classes and 7 Series and A8s and LS500s and Range Rovers and GLSs and Q7s and X7s and more before I decided what I was going to choose.
Haha, let me know!

For me, the level of noise and vibration at highway speeds is a very important factor in my buying decision. But dealers here in China never allow that. So I ended up renting a W223 for three days, for an extensive, 'real-world' evaluation...

I wonder if the dealers over at the states will let you test drive on highways?

No problem with extended test drives in the NW on ordinary cars like this one. I don't worry about getting days with a car; if I don't know I want it in the 20 minutes or so it takes to go through the stuff that tells me the car isn't worth spit.

For me its mostly comparing cars and deciding what I want.

This finally happened to me. Not that I got stranded but I'm getting PPF and ceramic coated and when I look at the status of my car in Mercedes Me app after 3 days, I got the 12V Battery is low on charge. I had to call the technician wrapping my car to let the car idle for 30 mins. However, to future proof this poorly designed car, I bought CTEK CS Free to make sure that in case it drains the battery I can jump start it safely wherever I'm at.

All these battery issues, already popping up when the car is practically new. I shiver to think how bad things could get, five years down the road...
I’ll probably have to sell it for another by then😂

Funny thing is Mercedes Factory 57 offers that you can talk to a product expert but divert you to your local dealership. I was going to ask if there's some settings I can deactivate to stop it from draining. However, same advice like everyone else, run the car for 30 mins when you get the message as the car has so many electronics in it. Don't get me wrong, the car is nice and all, but this battery issue is already a pain in the ***.

My S560 with no 48V battery will throw the same warning in that situation. Most cars just don’t alert you with an app of such an issue when the doors are open, etc. I wouldn’t worry about that, personally. That’s just the app making you concerned about a battery depletion that would happen with any car.

Not sure how much you drove the car before taking it to the PPF shop, but your post got me thinking: What about just driving the car normally—whatever “normally” might be for any particular owner—and then parking it long term at the airport for maybe two weeks, while on vacation? I’ve done such things before with previous vehicles and never had a problem. Something tells me that a W223 would be a dead duck in such a case. Heck, the 2004 SL500 I had for 12 years, was sometimes left in my garage, not driven for over a month and she always fired right up. The W223’s need to come with several warning labels, advising potential customers that these cars require “special” battery care.

I honestly think if you didn;t get that notification on your phone, you would never have any problems. I'm 2.5 years in and 36,000 miles and I get that notification maybe once a month and I have never had any issues at all.
When my car was being coded I even got that warning while the car was hooked up to a charger. Fired right up when he was done no problem. Obviously I do not have a W223 and can't speak to that but I think the app is just too sensitive to drops in battery charge

As mentioned before, battery messages are standard fare on many cars. Our lowly GLE (12V only) has complained about a critical battery status for years; even when driven the same day it will likely continue unless we clocked in 100 miles or so. There has never been any real-life impact on functionality; just the nuisance factor from having to see the email's/notifications.

I found this class action law suit against parasitic drain to include 2021-2022 S Class
