What new or upcoming cars are on your radar?
BMW i7, Mercedes EQ series, and the Genesis G90 have my attention.
Has anyone tested these? What are you looking forward to replacing your W223 with?

I took a look at the interior of the BMW 7 series yesterday and it was very nice. No test drive, just a quick look and the salesman wasn't pushy at all and was happy to see to just someone come in as it was bone dead, being the memorial weekend I guess. It was a white 740i so it didn't have many of the high end features. Then today I took a ride on my motorcycle and saw two more new 7 series. The entire front end of the BMW is the question mark. I believe the only way I would like the BMW is to immediately take the black parts of the front grill off and have them painted the same color as the car in which case it could grow on me.

The H9 is a Chinese made car that is very cheap in price and has way too little power in the engine bay. However, the design is not bad at all. It's a hodge-podge of several different design cues from all of the cars we seem to bring up. I noticed that Kia dropped out of the luxury sedan market with their former K9 and Cadenzas and at this price point of around $50-70K, Kia could have sold this in some markets, maybe even in America. Who knows. It might have suffered the same fate as the VW Phaeton in America.

Probably will be an S-Class replacement. The S-Class was bought purposefully as a company vehicle with specifically the need for a large back seat but things changed and I went abroad for business so the car ended up not being driven much. When the lease is up I likely won't be needing a large executive sedan anymore. I do really like the S, but I think I want to get in an AMG before they're all electric/downsized. That being said knowing my luck (and my attention span with cars) something newer and different will come along or I'll end up needing a four door and things could change. But at the moment, something smaller, sportier, and with a V8 is the goal.

Other than the refreshed S class, the S63 AMG and I must confess I’m really liking the Flying Spur (Inspite of it really not being worth that much more money than the S).

I just hope the gremlins are worked out by the time the S63 comes to market. It's been approx. 3 years since the W223 has been on the market and MB has had plenty of time to truly refresh the W223, and not just appearance refreshes but electronic, material, and software refreshes. C'mon Benz, let's straighten up your suit and tie and get this right.

While I don't have a S anymore, I am interested in the VW Bus that's due in the states sometime in 2024-25. It's called the ID4. I really like the idea of a refreshed microbus.
I'm looking forward tro a set of HRE's on it I'm also dying for a new Porsche since all my kids are bigger now but which one remains to be seen

Current/Last 5-years: GLS,X5,Tesla,Accord; Sold:S560;S550,2x X7; X5;BMW 530e;Lincoln Navigator;LS460
I usually upgrade to vehicles when they are 2-4 years old (pre-owned) just given how quickly I trade in (every year to 2-yrs max). My plan was to upgrade to the W223 coming from my current W222 sometime early next year or so, but the posts under the W223 made me change my mind, and I didn't feel happy with the W223 loaners I test drove recently. That leaves only two vehicles for me once I decide to trade in:
- Likely #1 and #2: 1. The G90; or 2. 2023 7-series Plug-in-Hybrid, but for both vehicles I'll have to wait 2 years until a 1st owner too the depreciation hit so I can find a pre-owned once that i can then drive for 1-2 years again before the next one.
- Less likely alternative #3: Another one that I'll keep an eye one is the new Lexus LS generation which should be out in a year or so. In all cases, it seems there is nothing enticing for me at least until 2-3 years from now which is unusual for my case as I tend to start shopping sooner than that.
- Another feasible option #4 based on all the above for my case is the LCI 2023 BMW X6 M60i while waiting during the next 3 years for the next best Sedan to show up. If the W223 facelift gets improved, especially on the drive comfort side, I'll be lookin at 3-years old 2025 W223 around 2028 coming from any of the #4 above, or at least will keep my current W222 which am happy with until then (if I can control my car shopping desire that long)

Kinda like Porsche there, picking some color isn't just acceptable, not doing it is a wasted opportunity.

W223 S580e facelift if it has a hyperscreen (I think I remember something saying the 223 won't ever have a hyper screen but after seeing the w214 I'm hopeful); Flying Spur Hybrid when they reach the 140k GBP region; Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo, I test drove one and its a beautiful fast car but definitely not a 'S Class replacement', I was hoping they would use the PPE platform in the facelift, similar to that I'm also looking at the RS6/M5 EV if the 223 facelift doesn't have a hyperscreen

Rumor is no more LS after 2024. Not surprising. I bought my brand new 2018 LS in 2019 with a $20k discount. Kind of unheard of for a newly redesigned model.

The hyper screen was never coming before the face-lift, if it comes at all.

I was able to check out the new IDBuzz while in Europe. Very awesome car, and glad its coming to the US (even if it is in LWB form). My only issue with it is VW software right now, its pretty bad, hopefully it will be refreshed by the time it reached the states. And please do get a fun color combo! These look awesome in two tone.
I'm envious you got to see them. I'm on a "list" but we all know how that goes LOL.
And yes, just one solid color doesn't really look cool on that bus.....I'm guessing the novelty would wear off but then I could just wrap it in a flat color of some sort.
