At least when talking S560’s, I could afford to compromise on a temporary car, while I continue my search for my dream car. Maybe bite the bullet and deal with a black or AMG Line car, while still searching. It is just SO disappointing that there is NO vehicle in the current MB line that I want. Honestly, I never saw this coming.
EQS was fine, but I hear the ultra high motor noise and it triggers my tinnitus, every time. Hard no. Interior felt a little cheap too, but I could live with that.
W222 was awesome, just a delight. I let some of the noise on the W222 forum spook me out of buying one. Should have just bought one with a CarMax warranty.
LS430, way, way, way too old to daily drive. The nearly silent V8 and build quality was impressive. That experience has stuck with me.
On the whole, not very excited about cars right now.

I went for the temporary car route and ended up with an LS460L. It's an alright car, but having experienced the LS430, W222, and EQS the "why didn't I just.." is always there. Can't unring a bell.

Actually out of my LS400 and two LS460s, the LS430 we had in the middle was my least favorite.

If I remember correctly your LS460L is coil springs? The air suspension is what its missing...loved my LS460L with the air suspension. Had it not been hit in the back and repaired (just never the same to me after that happens) I very well may have kept it vs getting the S560.
Fundamentally, it’s a really nice car. Absolutely zero rattles or squeaks, power is great, stereo is phenomenal and sounds centered to me from every seat. Seats are great for long rides.
If I do upgrade, it will likely be a W222 though. I loved the extra isolation and ride. Sometimes the LS engine on idle becomes a slight annoyance. W222 also feels like a generation newer since the LS went from 07-17 and W222 started in 2014. I’m riding my new ebike everywhere though so not in a huge rush to find a new car

Yep, coils. For some reason so many of these were built without air. I would estimate 7/10 were on coils based on what I’ve come across.

Have been researching EVs recently, Tesla is the only company that sells a perfectly engineering drivetrains for EVs. Forget about the debates with regards to everything else, but their drivetrain and batteries seem to be much more refined than all other options. I even seriously thought of the Model S a couple of times... Just wish they had better luxury features in the cabin. Coming from a loaded S-class, it is hard to take any hit on luxury features.

Yeah the Model S appeals to me too, but I don't think I would be happy with the loss of all the luxury and features I am used to, they are also way smaller inside than an S Class.
The real benefit to Tesla is the charging infrastructure, which now MB will have access to. From a refinement perspective I think plenty of others have them beat or on par
If I were to buy an EV today I would buy an i7

Yes, the Model 3 has a loud interior. The refresh Model S though seems to have an upgraded interior quality and materials all around. Youtubers have reported a much better road insulation.

Lucid has some excellent lease deals on their EV's right now. I think the base-level Pure starts at $750 a month and even that car is quicker and has longer range than the EQS580. Looks better too IMO.
I also think that their drivetrain tech is quite a step up from Tesla.

We cancelled our order of the Lucid Air Grand Touring because the next service center is 450 miles away and I can't imagine to rely on mobile service only.

This is the Achilles heel of all new car companies although I think Lucid will do better than Tesla who gave themselves a good decade to organize local service and body shop repairs. A strong reason to stay with companies like Mercedes, Porsche, etc. but they are not leading in product innovation, which is a real shame.

To be honest the price drops on these Lucids do not look good for their future. I think Rivian will stay around however, I see them everywhere, and they were smart to enter in two of the most popular markets (SUV and Truck). Sadly, unlike the Lucid, I came away disappointed with the Rivian as the brake recuperation and pedal is so jarring and stomach churning that its a deal breaker. On top of that, the seats felt pretty firm, and the steering wheel leatherette felt very much like an economy car.

@Streamliner did you see that @S_W222 listed his W222 for sale. While it is 4Matic and not MBC, it does have some fantastic options such as the rare semi-aniline leather. Not sure if 38k miles is too much but it is a nice spec.

I’ve sat in the Lucid showroom cars and was impressed. There are some smart and beautiful touches inside and out, and then there are some stupid ones. The all glass roof I’ve hard practically makes the cabin a hotbox, which in FL would be annoying. I think the entire glass roof trend is stupid, what happened to just putting in a normal sunroof that opens and closes? I also hate the black only front seats, such a stupid design choices. While the car is beautiful and the range is good, I’ve heard that production models have build quality and software issues just like Tesla’s early days (and still today for build quality).

I miss my 2019 S450. It was flawless—one of the few MB's I owned that didn't require anything warranty.
The EQS that replaced it is... :C
