Yeah.... If I ever decide to get a W223, I'd probably start a new thread to confirm whether the 21's on the W223 are reliable or not (though I get your previous point about the tires having enough height and rubber as the 20" on the W222). My experience with my pre-facelift W222 20" wheels was terrible; I'd get a cracked wheel every 1-2 months, granted we were living in Chicago at that time but still. My facelift had the 19" and I never had any issues despite taking it several times on a state-to-state of a many-hours-trip and rough high-speed roads. I also need to say that by the time I got the facelift I learned to adjust the tires pressure to slightly "softer" setting (~4 to 5 PSI lower than Mbenz recommended) which makes the tire softer and avoid the overly exaugurated inflation by manufacturer to claim a few more MPGs on paper. When I had the pre-facelift, I always kept it at 42-45 PSI. I wonder if that would have changed anything at that time with the 20", but still wouldn't trust large AMG wheels after that experience until I ask around next time. I love the look for the 21" anyway on the W223, so it's a balance between risk and aesthetics, sometimes comfort too.

You don't want the 21s on the W223, the sidewalls are way too short. Your experience with those 20s is what the experience on the 223 with the 21s is. I love how they look too, but the best balance of looks and comfort on the 223 is the 20s.

I was just fine with my 19s, although I only see lost performance when I look at upsized wheels, and there is nothing pretty about that for me. I think I'm more like Stream, I might have gone 18s if they were available and weren't butt ugly. As for this car though, not matter how you see them, IMO, the 21s are a hard pass. It wouldn't be easy to remember all the people who checked in here, were advised of the problems with them, that then said they were some purty wheels, they knew what they were doing, they run 21s or more all the time, and it's not a problem. Not so long after getting their car, problem, and they're angry.

It was something like less than half, when I was getting into my car, had the 21s. I didn't count them, but they're not so ubiquitous you can't avoid them, and I would certainly do that.

It depends on which body you are buying. When you get the AMG line package, the 19s just really don't look good on the car, the 20s look much better and I can tell you from having driven them back to back last week there is no difference in ride quality. If there were a discernible difference I would put up with the less than ideal looks.

19s:

20s:

The 20s look much better and with no ride penalty, why not?

Twenty’s all the way. Perfect compromise between aesthetics and comfort. Had them for over 2 years now, touch wood…no issues.

Yep. On sedans 18’s are great. 19’s only if I have to. Those forged wheels I bought for my SL were only used by the factory as staggered sets with 19’s up front and 20’s in the rear. I ordered four 19’s, as there was no way I wanted 20’s on my car. I went one size larger on the rear tires and it all came together nicely.

This is why we have options. The problem is when you insult people because of the options they choose.

I like the AMG 20s better than the 19s, but it's not the wheel size: The twisted spoke is an attractive offering that matches the car's styling. The 19" wheel doesn't match well, and dated is the kindest word I can come up with for its appearance.

I'm not against the big wheels in an organized religion sort of way, they're just not for me because performance and ride quality are my top criteria with wheel choices.

Were I going AMG, I would go with the 20s. The 19s are unsuitably styled, and while the 21s are downright pretty, I would never knowingly buy into those headaches, even if I was into the big wheel thing.

I agree 100%, a better wheel design and I would accept the 19s. The 19s on the non AMG car look okay. The AMG 19s have that weird fat aero lip on them, makes them look very strange. The similar overall design AMG 19s on my car look much better without that lip...

Drove an i7 50 and 60 today. I can’t tell any difference in how they drive. They feel Identical to me. With that said the 50 does not have laminated glass in the rear which is a bummer, 60 does. Don’t know if that is worth $20,000 or not…

Also can confirm 19s vs 20s ride the same.

I gotta tell you though, I drove an S580 afterwards and on 20s it rides pretty damn close to that i7, my car does too. I would not say any of them ride notably better than the other. The EV powertrain in the i7 is what sets it apart. When I drove the i7, I said “I gotta have this”, then I drove the S580 and “I gotta have this” then I got back into my S560 and im like “I should just keep this” lol

Some pictures of the 19s, I think these look okay.

I have decided that if I get an i7 it will be M Sport, this is a 70 but this is the spec:

No Brainer. Get the i7 M Sport above with THOSE wheels...looks way more Premium and Professional. My 25 year old Daughter who just bought a $13K Patek Phillipe recently in Switzerland, would rather do business with a Top Real Estate Earner in that Smart looking EV. That other silver i7 with those dainty 19" wheels would not impress...she would ditch your business card in the recycle bin then ignore your follow up calls like she does her 64 year old fashion Father...lol

Haha! I do love those wheels, but I would get the 20s for the better ride. I will drive one on those wheels first to be sure. These are the wheels I would get:

Well today, I logged into my BMWUSA account to check the status of my car and lo and behold, the wheels I had mentioned here, magically appeared on the computer generated image of what my car is supposed to look like. Mind you, I never contacted my dealer or BMWUSA about possibly changing the wheels, the only place I mentioned it was here and on the BMW Forum. Crazy! I sure hope it comes this way, as I much prefer these silver wheels.

You're good to go, the BMW production portal in "My Garage" often makes this correction,

But the wheels are not even shown as being available to order in the USA. Very odd.

Why wouldn't I? I am very much looking forward to getting it.
In addition to being excited about going electric, my I7 will be reasonably unusual looking and I'm looking forward to that as well. I see my current S560 "coming and going" all the time.

I think he means what happend with your S580 where they tried to screw you on the deal when it came in.

Luckily BMW locks the pricing in when you order, unless the incentives IMPROVE, then you get those. So, no games.

By the way, BMW doesn't offer charger installation in all areas/cities/state. I requested mine and BMW said they can't do it for my address as they don't have a team that services my zip code.
