Ah thanks, didnt pay much attention, I'm android. In any event I cant check because I've moved on but this would mean I never did get one of them. Which kinda goes back to my point... Wonky.

You would think that on their top line sedan, a car that more than any is their flagship, their legacy, their soul—that they would pull out all the stops to make it RIGHT, to make it absolutely “The Best or Nothing,” even if it costs them a few Euros to make it so. Unfortunately, with the W223, they pinched every pfennig possible. Hoping for better things in the future.

Switching from comfort to sports+ use to lower the suspension; I would stare at the edge of the hood and watch it drop. I no longer notice it dropping after the software update. The new comfort is literally the old sports+, which means there are essentially two sports+ since they didn’t change the old one as far as I can tell. What a freaking sham. The new suspension change is freaking lame.

P.S. When an OTA software update is done, is the owner always notified? The EABC system in my happily departed 2022 S580, changed the way it worked, about six months after I got the car. I had never been informed of an OTA update, but in hindsight, it now seems like something did change. All the dealer ever told me was that “the system is operating as designed.”

I think something happened to your car with the update that wasn't supposed to happen...

Can anyone else who has the software update confirm if the suspension lowers switching from Comfort to Sports+? Prior to the update, the suspension would slightly lower upon switching. It was subtle, and unless you’re staring at the hood and some reference point, you probably wouldn’t notice it. Mine no longer lowers when switching and comfort and sports+ feels nearly identical to me.

I never got this update in my 2022 S580. I have received other updates including one that came out after this one was released. So, either the update isn't applicable to model year 2022 or my car isn't optioned with the needed hardware to require the update.
Given the complaints about the update, I'm glad I didn't get it.

Yes, you should consider yourself lucky. Maybe MB pulled the update.
Is there anyone else that also notices the car no longer lowers the suspension switching from Comfort to Sports+?

Thanks. Can you switch from Comfort to Sports+ and see if it lowers as well? I’m going to try Comfort to Sports and see if it lowers because it doesn’t lower going from Comfort to Sports+ for me.

Yes it does. When i start car, it defaults to comfort height. While still in garage, i change to Sport and I can see the hood emblem lower against my garage wall. It never changed from doing that, even with the software update. Even when i park while in Sport, the car is lower vs parking when in comfort….

Thanks, Philly. That confirms my suspension is just broken.
I did have some random suspension fault shortly after purchase that I didn’t even know was there (no indicator light). It was indicated in my service invoice for an unrelated matter. They just cleared the code. But that fault didn’t prevent me from lowering the car. It’s probably the software update that screwed something up. Freaking unplanned dealership visits really **** me off.

I was thinking all along that it was strange you such a different result from mine. The silver lining here is you should have a path towards getting it sorted out. They can't say they're unable to reproduce when you can helpfully demonstrate a real problem at the drop-off.

FWIW I drove a brand new S580 today and I assume it has all the updates, it rode great.

The floatiness is back, which is good. I honestly think MB may have quietly reverted the suspension changes in an unrelated update. I can now tell the difference between Sports+ and Comfort again like I did pre-update.

This whole idea of a manufacturer being able to “REACH OUT & TOUCH” a customer’s vehicle and make changes to it, without first advising the customer and obtaining their timely & specific approval, is just NUTS! I realize that the “approval” is probably hidden in the boilerplate of the lease and/or purchase agreements we sign, but there should be more substantial & deliberate customer notifications & acceptances required before such intrusions are allowed to occur. Before you know it, if you miss a lease payment, in the middle of the night, THE CAR will open your garage door and drive itself back to the dealer. We are on a very slippery slope here with all this OTA & AI B.S.!
