Amg Steering wheel

Is it easy to change out the stock steering wheel to the amg and not lose any of the button functions? And if so where would I purchase one?

Yes, but if your car has steering wheel driver assist you’ll want to make sure you buy from a partout or dealer. There are no aftermarket DA modules available so if you buy from a steering wheel company chances are you’d lose that function.
if you don’t care about that feature feel free to reach out rucarbon@outlook.com we will be happy to help
otherwise partout is your best bet

Does the stock steering wheel itself have a sensor to detect hands-on while using active cruise control & lane keep assist?

I believe it uses a combination of touch and cameras to detect attentiveness??

So there is actually a sensor detecting contact on the steering wheel and not the resistance or force of the steering wheel axle?
What I'm trying to find out is whether there's a difference in the steering wheel (including part number) of the amg steering wheels with ADAS capability and ones without.

it’s a layer under the material like a mat (not really but best description). So when the leather is removed there’s a high chance of damage

wheels themselves are identical. You’ll have different part numbers for different models like anything else but the core is identical. Unlike Audi/bmw Mercedes makes the same cores across the board and the splines from 03’ to present are the same so technically interchangeable

So then I would need to get the AMG wheel with this hands-sensing layer installed, otherwise ADAS won't work or even throw a code, correct?

correct. Personally I’m not a fan of all the assists so I have all turned off. But if you like them you’ll need that oem wheel with assists

I have most advanced safety nannies turned off (except for traction controls, DSC, etc.) on all my cars as well.
But I do want to keep the ability to use these functions at will, on those rare occasions.
I wonder if this 'sensing' can be defeated.
