Still doesn’t mean your insurance company will pay for it. Just curious for those with insurance that won’t pay for OEM, do you have to pay the difference from non-oem or have to pay for the everything?

No idea, I didn't go there. Seems we have one data point here saying the unit used isn't up to snuff. I would never go there with this type of thing; the OEM is already making the least expensive part possible that meets the specified performance and durability goals, at scale. It's hard to get cheaper than what is already designed to be the cheapest thing that works correctly, unless you give up something. It does happen, but often, some aspect has gotten worse
.

Update on my replacement yesterday. Safelite once again couldn't get it to calibrate properly, and somehow ended up locking themselves out of the computer system trying. Now none of my road safety features work such as lane keeping or cruise control, and I have to take it to a dealer to fix it all. Safelite did say they will pay my bill for it, but not the now over 10 hours I've lost to them trying to fix this.

I would absolutely challenge that statement on a car this new. I have never had an issue convincing my insurance company to pay for OEM glass. If the lease requires it and you have real diminished value because CPO programs won’t take the car those are losses that your insurance should also cover.

Is aftermarket even available? Also you are better off just going through your insurance. I found a mobile windshield shop that works with my insurance and they ended up having to get the windshield straight from the dealer as aftermarket isn't available. Only had to pay the $500 as my insurance paid for the rest and the windshield was about 3k if I remember correctly. My policy also did not go up a penny with this claim. I have had 4 windshields done in a year.

This might sound dumb, but did they remove the little tape cover the would block your sensors/cameras? I had something similar happen and they ended up forgetting to take that off and solved everything.

Final update for me, dealer was able to calibrate it without issue. They recommended if it happens again to just have them do it all from the start, then bill insurance, to make sure its done right the first time. $240 after tax for the calibration, which Safelite promised to reimburse.
