Clicking / Static in 4D Audio over bumps

Sadly, here is my first issue with my new-to-me 2023 S580. When driving over medium size bumps (unavoidable in Atlanta), the audio system in my 2023 S580 momentarily cuts out and produces a loud static noise. This is the same noise you hear when you do a soft reset of MBUX by pressing and holding the power button for 10 seconds. It seems to be getting worse, happening on smaller and smaller bumps. As a data point, and hopefully unrelated, the other day MBUX restarted on its own also producing the static noise, but in this instance, did a full soft reset.

I did a search and found a similarly-reported issue on Reedit here While my issue is nowhere near as bad as his, it does appear to be the same.

Has anyone had this issue happen in their car and what was the remedy?

I'm guessing loose connection near or inside the amplifier?
That's gotta be super annoying.
Look at the bright side though, you'll be getting a brand new amp and/or harness!
But yeah, sorry to hear about the issue.
Keep us posted on how the fix goes.

Definitely some sort of loose connector, dealer should be able to handle that.

That static pop when the MBUX is reset is awful...even though I know its coming it always makes me jump.

Took my car into the dealership for them to do a quick diagnostic. After a short amount of time, they located the issue. There is a cable that runs from the amp in the trunk to the head unit in the dash that provides noise canceling as part of the 4D Burmester system. Part number 223-540-99-26. It appears when the car was built, they created a hard 90-degree bend in the cable near the amp in the trunk. They believe the bend is causing a fault in the cable, thus ultimately causing the issue. They ordered the cable; it should be here today or tomorrow. They warned me to replace the cable, they will need to remove seats, carpet and the center console so they can route the cable from the trunk to the dash. I'll follow up after the installation on if this indeed fixes the issue. More to come.

That sounds like a major but necessary repair. Thanks for the detailed update please do let us know if the full cable replacement fixes the problem after everything gets put back together. Hope it all goes smoothly.

I traveled to Charleston from Atlanta over the long Labor Day weekend; hit a couple of pretty big potholes while I was there and along the way on the highway. No static at all. I'm trying to decide if I want to move forward with having the dealership replace the cable given these results and the fact they need to remove the seats, carpet and center console to install the cable. If them removing the "kink" in the cable (as the advisor told me they did) was all it took to fix, then I would say no. If the cable is frayed internally, then this is simply as stop-gap fix, and the issue will eventually return.

What do you guys think I should do?

In my experience with electronic connection/audio related issues, they generally seem to return if the conditions are met.
I'd say replace the harness. It's covered under warranty, so why not.

I would wait for it to do it again before I had that repair done
