I agree about the weight of the AGM H8: to solve that problem the $179 at Walmart includes installation!

Hope this helps:

That makes the Antigravity battery even less feasible (except for its weight!).

Apologies to the OP for the hijacking of his thread. I hope @Frenetic got his questions answered before this thread was taken off into K-mart world as it was not my intention to have a debate about batteries.

It appears the discussion has now evolved into a COST evaluation. The logic required for this decision has left the chat.

Spend 6 figures on a car and make efforts to find the cheapest K-mart quality battery you can buy and call it a win....GENIUS

You say hey, 12V is 12V right? Any K-mart 12V battery will work, besides...it has a warranty LOL

If cost is the driving issue, then just go to a junk yard and buy a used battery out of a wrecked car. They have tons of them and they are $50 each. And YES, they have a warranty as the date code is stamped on the battery case so you can feel good about your purchase.

While the original batteries are made in Germany, if you want a US made replacement battery, there are two major manufacturers: Clarios, formerly Johnson Controls or East Penn. The batteries made by these companies are sold under different brand names. If you check the ratings of various brand names you will see capacity, ccp, etc. are the same - as you would expect as they are made by the same company and are identical. FYI, the Everstart batteries sold by Walmart are primarily made by Clarios and East Penn. The Interstate batteries sold by Costco are made by East Penn.

If the name Everstart bothers you, you can always pay more for a US made identical battery with a different name - or have your dealer install a German battery at almost triple the cost. For me that is not an efficient use of my money.

No apology needed here! Every comment above is worthy, even if a bit tangential to the OP. A major consideration for me with a battery is the immediate availability of a replacement, and less so about its cost. A lithium battery that's a special order for the nearest MB dealer (250 miles away for me) is a major inconvenience, even if it's free under warranty. An AGM that I can find sitting on the shelf at any Walmart or Autozone, and that gets installed in 30 minutes works better even when I have to pay full price for it.

Not intimating that yours were -- simply saying that I find all this information exchange useful.
