More Proof the Dealer Pricing is a Scam!!!

I ordered a new S65 and was going to trake my other AMG in. well let me just tell you the sales said my 03 S55 low miles, all options but keyless go wasnt worth much. He said that the new one will hold its value greatly though. So just to prove a point i had my secretary call the dealer and tell them she had to trade in her almost new S65. Well they said the same thing they told me about my 03..."There is no value in this car." Funny how the dealer knows its not easy to sell a high priced item on your own. They adjust the prices anywhere they want to. It is a complete scam. I wish i didnt like the AMGs so much...so i guess that makes me part of the problem too. Any how...i love it when you buy a car and they tell you that the kelly blue book is one number then when you trade in your car they tell you that kelly blue book doesnt matter for them. They say its the auction price. So i call the dealer the next day and ask if they have seen any S55s at auction lately and they say no...So what does that mean? I think everyone should make a fair deal. I dont expect them not to make money off of us, it is business, but...come on Mercedes.

Here is where they are at auction..... A low and mid mile example

07/26/07 MANHEIM Regular $35,700 53,796 Avg SILVER
07/25/07 BAY CITI Regular $45,000 22,128 Above SILVER

This is all part of the dealer game. The sell at book retail and give you auction for trade.

Well known that all AMGs have awful trade-in value, esp in past 3-4 yrs (after the SL55's heyday in '02-'03)....

Poor resale value is prob why MB is offering decent 2 yr leases to move S63/65's.....fair, conservative assumption is any 63/65 is worth perhaps 50-65% MSRP after one yr.....

Valuation of used, higher-end cars is obviously a sloppy art based upon few relevant hard datapoints.....ultimate profit to dealer dpds upon unknown amt that some local sucker is willing/able to pay for a used, discretionary car....in a climate of falling home values, rising interest rates and tighter credit, values of high-end used cars are harder to predict.....and dealers will naturally offer even lower trade-in values....

Look at current mkt for new/used S63/65 (or CL63)....fairly soft, even in CA....let alone ex-CA locales.....

I won't buy another AMG new except possibly a G55 just because I am tired of losing a boatload of cash in such a short time. I don't mind depreciation on cars and you have to pay to play but when they discount an outgoing year model 65 50k then that owner can sell it 50k cheaper than someone that paid closer to MSRP and then the market price is instantly 50k less.
Look at what will happen to people that bought SLR's for closer to sticker since dealers will now sell new 06's for 325k. The guy that buys for 325 may drive it a year and sell for 280 and now the guy that paid 450 gets to sell at the new market price of 280k. The dealers are screwing us.:smash:

All dealers are like that....
