Passenger side controls don't work

I have a 2002 S55 AMG and every so often the passenger-side controls do not work (more often lately). These include heated seat controls, windows controls, seat movement controls, and passenger side mirrors. You don't see any yellow lights around the controls when they are off. Once in a while they would turn on and stay on for some time (or a few days) and then stop working.

My mechanic says that he needs to take the entire door assembly out and examine for shorts or leaks, but since seat message does not work either, I am not so sure. Someone had mentioned to me that this may be related to an electrical draw in the battery that may be causing the system computer to shut off electric power to these modules.

It is an inconvenience. So when it is on, I do not let anyone configure to any custom seat position because I never know when it would stop working.

I want to understand this before taking up any repairs. Any of you fellow AMG'ers having a problem like this?

Obvious item to check is make sure your battery is strong, Gateway Control Module misbehaves like this when battery does not supply proper voltage/amp. W220 battery typically lasts 3-4 years, so you must be on your third battery for a 2002, if not have it checked out.

Good luck and please keep us posted.

Thanks... I think I am on the second battery, so I will get it tested. Thanks and I let you know if this fixed the problem.
