Can you help me with a buying question?
Hi. I will keep this as succinct as possible. I am researching if getting a 2003-04 S55 with over 100K miles is a good idea. So far, the ppl I ask says it is a money pit but they have never owned a AMG or MB for that matter so I thought I would go direct to the source. I am looking to pay between 15-18K. Would this be a good buy? What major repairs would I be looking at? Does anyone have a vehicle with that many miles? Still reliable? Money pit? Any and all info will help. I am looking to buy within 2 weeks. Thanks.

German vehicles stink, will never buy again. Moved on to Toyota and BYD.
I have 2005 S600. So far spent around $50k in repairs in 3 years/75k miles (warranty paid $40k). Suspension being the most expensive part. Overall car is reliable but suspension goes out often (strut, abc pump) and can be very costly around $4,000 per strut. I think ABC pump was around $4.5k. Motor, trans, electrical are top notch after 2003.

My 2003 S55 has cost me about $5k in repairs other than oil, tires, brakes. if the car has been well taken care of i dont think they are money pits.
Btw...the $5k included $3.5k for abc pump. And i have done almost 50k miles since i bought the car. Total miles = 120k and running strong. I do have to say there are more then enough little electrical things that go wrong, but i have always been able to fix them. Carsoft or even better a C3 or C4 is a must if you want to do the work yourself.
