My new S65

Picked this 2006 S65 from Law Auto Group in Chicago. I must first recommend them as Jim was a great seller to deal with. I drove the car 2000 miles home to Las Vegas through ice cold conditions and a lot of snow. I must say that the distronic is an amazing feature, really glad i waited to find one with it.
picking it up

had to stop here

finally home and clean

and... first repair the next day

So far I really like it but just need to handle some small issues

Great pick up! I dream of having a 65 TT V12 one day. Distronic is quite a nice feature! It seems pretty difficult to find a W220 65 with it.

Glad you made it home safe. Whats wrong with the car? I noticed your trunk doesn't have the little nub for gps/sat or whatever its for. Not that it matters.

It has a coolant leak. I put the coolant tester on and it is leaking from the drivers side of the radiator where the hose connects. I'm thinking its the hose, it's a type of connection I'm not familiar with.
I'm not sure about the trunk, it has Nav and it works.

nice car, but working on your s65 in the cul de sac is a bit questionable.

Can't take it to the dealer, that is too expensive. I can do it all myself.

Unhappy

The S65 is an awesome car! We had ours for about 2 years and LOVE it. But with the 3rd baby arriving 2 weeks ago it looks like we might have to sell it. And I love the Distronic. Your right, it took me like 4 months to finally find one fully loaded with Keyless Go, Navigation, Bluetooth, Disctronic, Rear Heated/Cooled Seats, Reclining Rear Seats, Sat Radio, etc, etc... I hate to see if go. As of now I have talked the wife out of putting it up for sale but if we get the right offer, we might just have to let it go.

Where the upper coolant pipe connects to the radiator? It is held on with like a big circlip type deal. Mine and others have actually leaked because the radiator is prone to cracking right where that inlet is. JB Weld / other sealers did not work for me in sealing the crack in the plastic side tank on the radiator. A full replacement was in order. GL

I took off the metal clip, pulled back the hose, replaced the hardened o-ring with the new one and the leak is all fixed.

Lucky dog, I had even replaced my whole radiator hose in hopes that would fix my (big) leak...

I thought thats what the little aerial thing on top of the rear windscreen does? My 55k doesnt have anything on the trunk either.

Its a mighty car and one i would love to own, i must admit im slightly envious of the fact that you drove it home over such a long distance. The furthest ov ever driven mine is about 250 miles.

But then again, given the size of this little island we live on if i drove in any direction for 2000 miles id end up in the middle of the Atlantic . . . . . . . or worse, France

the nub on the trunk is for satellite radio, not GPS/satnav

How is the beast treating you? I find the radiator to be a common issue on these cars, mine was leaking at the same place.
