6.0 V12 con rods stronger than 5.5 V12 Biturbo?
 

Over the past year ive seen more than a few M275 V12TT motors blown due to connecting rod failure. I may or may not be interested in a 220 S65 in the future depending on the strength of the 6.0's connecting rods.

Ive been eyeing a few '04+ S600s for a few months now but they seem to be less reliable than the '05-'06 S65. Anyone with experience care to shed some light on the reliability and longevity of the 6.0 powerplants?

65 rods are stronger and not sure what motors blow from conrod failure but they must be boosted way up or running n20. Stock AMG conrods are really strong but if you start increasing power over 20%, then parts will get stressed.

Both the rods and pistons on the 600 are not as strong as the 65 motors. But By no means are the 600 motors not durable. I am curious where you have come across several motor failures? We have put a couple 600 motors well into the 700+whp range with no issues to date.

Ive been trying to find the engine swap thread of a member on this forum but nothing comes up in the search. I vaguely remember it were two members within the past year and a half who've blown "stock" S600 V12TT motors.

I am apprehensive to believe they were completely stock bc I too have thought and still believe that keeping it stock means a long lasting engine.

If you make enough of something, one or two will always be defective. In general, the M275 seems to be an very strong and overbuilt engine.
