broken s55
my oil pumped snapped off and was told this was a common problem.

Not "common" as far as I know but then again Im no expert....a snapped oil pump shaft sounds like you have another major issue going on.....

I haven't heard of that being common but I would have them check the motor out internally before just fixing that.. may be time for a rebuild?

Not common I have never heard one thing across the forums on m113k motor oil pump going like that.
Yeah I would tear the motor down and see how everything is, and a m113k motor can be had for a cheap price.

shafts usually shear/break when something else on the driven portion seizes or jams.....I would investigate further with pan off....
