Just had the dealer do a flush with 2 filters used and the fluid is dark. Is this normal? As far as we know, this is the first flush on a 2007 SL65 with 52k miles.

Yes it’s normal. Every 3y or 30k seems to be the consensus for 65 model cars, depending upon climate. Likely overkill but overkill on these is more good than bad. Fluid and filters are the cheapest parts of the system. You should probably think about dampers at this age as well. You’ll get conflicting opinions based upon mileage but for me 15 years is 15 years.
