Thinking about buying 2002 S55...opinions needed

I ran across this very nice 2002 S55 on seattle Craigslist. The CARFAx is perfect, one owner all maintenance at MB dealers. I'm not a speed freak so the naturally aspirated engine is preferable to me. I don't need 500hp and the maintenance of the later models. I would like to know what some of you more knowledgable Mercedes guys think of this car. I really like clean W220 cars and this one looks beautiful for 10k. I have several cars, so it would not be a daily, but wondering if it would still be a viable option for long distance driving. There's nothing like a big body Benz for a long road trip. I became interested after watching Hovies Garage and his 2002 CLK55, but I prefer the S55 with the same engine. Or would I just be better buying a low mile 2005-6 W220 S500 for a few grand more? Any thoughts or opinions appreciated.

I have a 02 S55 for sale currently. It's a few threads down and can be found in the marketplace.

The only REAL issue with these cars is that the ABC system wasn't sorted out properly. If, however, it has been properly maintaned, these cars are reliable and not too expensive to own. Spares are available and if you do some basic wrenching, you can do many jobs yourself. Hope your experience is as good as mine, as I have a 2001 S55 (currently at 147000 miles) and it has performed very well. Look carefully for rust and signs of wear in the leather, they may indicate abuse or neglect. Oh, and make sure you have a good scanner if you inspect the car all by yourself.
