Hey guys,
I am seeing this code pop up and the car now sits with check engine light on, and in safe mode...I found some fluid in the TCU, dried that out and cleaned it up, still same, going to do a tranny service with a new conductor next week but not expecting that to be a fix. Any ideas where to go next?

Have you read about how fluid in the AT Controller module is likely ATF that wicked up through the wiring harness?
Typical fix is to replace the pilot bushing, the plastic socket which goes into the transmission’s valve body section under the car. The pilot bushing for the 722.6 can be found on the inter webs for around $10-$15.

...plus add the cost of the ATF if you have to drop the pan.
...plus the $150ish for a replacement conductor plate if you decide that you are going to do the “while I am in here, I might as well do this too” service.

Listen to GrepHawk... all classic stuff. Check the trans plug connector and harness, try to get a sense how far fluid has wicked. But don’t fix the effects without fixing the cause.

car had some fluid in the tcu, cleaned that up, even tried another tcu etc nothing....changed conducer, filter and new fluid, was great for a day and now 100% in limp mode and cant get it to clear, attacking the shifter next i guess, what a pain this is.

You might just buy a spare TCU off eBay and throw it at the car to see what happens. These were the last model S where the dealer didn’t have to code the TCU, IIRC. Others please weigh in.
